On Wednesday March 21st I saw a white pelican with fishing line wrapped around its neck and bill which means the pelican cannot eat or clean itself. I contacted Florida Wildlife Commission and they connected me to Anita with Wild Birds Rehab Center out of Weirsdale. Anita came to my home in hopes that the pelican was still near the pond but the pelican was no longer there. I am asking our community to keep your eyes open to this white pelican that cannot help himself. The more the eyes, the better! If you do locate the pelican please contact Anita at 352-229-4477. Anita stated that she has been trying to capture the pelican now for a week and our time is running out due to his inability to eat. Thank you for reading and supporting this white pelican which I have named Hercules. I thought the name appropriate and hope he stays strong till we can get him help.
