I have a mowing service who only mowed my St Augustine grass once in January, once in Feb and mowed March 2 and nothing since. I thought weekly mowing began again March 1st for most lawns. Are you getting weeking mowings yet?

Every other week for ours.
The weather determines when the grass grows.

Mowing weekly, trimming every other week. Aerated lawn and fertilized lawn, landscaping and trees last week.

Mine hardly grew in the last week with the cold weather.
Leave it long (4"), it's healthier. (St.Augustine)
Not looking forward to mowing every week again.

All lawn care is debatable. It is now the end of march and we have Zoyzia. I just applied my first application of fertilizer and IN MY OPINION it is actually too early-our lawn is just starting to wake up from dormancy.
As to when your lawn SHOULD BE mowed. The suggestion is to never remove more than 1/3 of the grass length. Perhaps like me our mowing guy is suffering from spring fever. Or in the real world he has probably gotten complaints from customers who feel they are paying him for doing nothing. Right now, on zoysia once every two weeks is plenty unless you insist on cutting it short. At one inch it needs to be cut every time it grows 1/3 of an inch. At two inches it needs to be cut-should be cut-when it grows
2/3 of an inch. Unless you are mowing yourself, since, most of the mowing services wil not come more than once a week. That is reason enough to cut your zoyzia at 2-3 inches.
FORTUNATELY, FOR ALL OF US YOUR PLANTS DO NOT READ.
