Your postsl station or all? My understanding was contracts that expired would not be renewed.

Finally, Vito and Rocco came thru. After 2 plus years of trying to get them to collect in a Lobster Bet (it's a long story), they came thru and helped these people keep their jobs. It is a Beautiful Day In The Villages Indeed!

I believe they are staying only if they go through the process to become full time employees. Not staying as contractors and that is all I heard.

I hope I get a new one. My last one, in Virginia Trace was great. In my new village the guy goes out of his way to wrinkle up mail and shove it in. He is missing the key to half the bigger boxes, and is in no hurry to get them replaced so if you don’t pick large items up when he is there it may take awhile to get them. If you have a question he won’t answer the locked door, but expects you to yell at him through the box. Just terribly unfriendly.

In Fenney, there is only one section of mailboxes open. All other mail is claimed at the Fenney Rec Center and that in itself is a whole other story and not a pretty one either !!! :cus: :cus: :cus:

Glad they're staying. Could only imagine how bad the alternative would have been.

Especially since according to some, businesses are abusing the USPS...by using them as their "delivery boys." :1rotfl:

As if the US Postal Service is supposed to be doing something else...besides delivering letters & packages? :ohdear:

My carrier told me that some people were already let go and her contract expires in 2020. It probably varies from carrier to carrier as to when their contract expires.

It looks like it maybe incremental discharges but time will tell if USPS changes their decision.

Everyone knows USPS could be run more efficiently.

My understanding is that 6 will be gone as of tomorrow. Another 15 that we’re told they were leaving effective the 31st have now been told to stay for now but contracts will not be renewed. The rest have no idea what will happen once their contract expires. So, limbo it is for everyone.

One postal worker I talked to asked that we call, write, email USPS to not change something that works so well.

In the meantime, why aren’t they encouraged to take the Civil Service test. It seems like it would be better for them as they would get benefits, paid vacations and not have to use their own vehicles.

Unless they are veterans and qualify for the 10 point preference, it will be very hard for them to get hired by USPS... regardless of their test scores.

Or at least it used to be that way.

Not to mention, that there is most likely a very long list of those who want to work at the Post Office (especially in an area like this and their existing location)...already ahead of them.

Plus the fact that I haven't seen where the USPS has said that they will hire people here...to supplant the existing contractors when they go away.

The USPS is telling contractors to take the Civil Service test. IF they pass it and IF they get hired, they will have to go through training. However, there is no guarantee that they will get hired. It would depend where they are on the list as to when they would be hired. It could take years.

22 of the contract carriers were supposed to be released, as their contracts were expiring. 15 of those people received a new 6 year contract, but 7 did not. Don’t know why. My excellent carrier’s contract expires next year, so this protest may be repeated to save her and the others whose contracts expire next year also.

Spoke with my postal worker Saturday. Yes, Saturday she out delivering packages in Santo Domingo. Anyway we appreciate the extra effort she puts into her job. Here is the scoop as I heard it (?) with hearing loss I do not swear to anything I hear or say. As of Saturday, they were expecting to lose, not 20 people but 15 and some of them were going to USPS./ Then at the last minute some contractor comes along and offers The Villages a deal. He will buy out (?) the rest of the contracted employees and put them in his own company. Our contactor in Santo Domingo is staying under her current contract.

Someone from the post office stamped (or put a "return to sender, wrong address" label) on 2 of my credit card bills, but they were addressed correctly.
When I tried to use the credit card, it was rejected. I've never had this happen before, so I called the cc company. The cc people said that they had received my bill/statement, that was returned to them by the P.O.

They verified it was addressed correctly, and explained this caused my cc to be declined at the store. I think it's all straightened out now, but I can't figure out why this happened.
Do any of you have any idea why the P.O. would return some of my mail, but deliver the rest of it.
Has anyone else had this happen?
