Just came out - saw it today in 3D, Brownwood. Directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the novel.
4/5 stars. Quite complex movie and 2/3 is in a fast moving Virtual Reality/CGI setting. Typically something I don't care for, but thought what the heck. Movie set in year 2045, in Ohio. Thruout the 2 1/2 hours or so it was a 'love-dislike-c'mon-confused-great-ahhhh-what?-I'm lost-nice-ah ha-nice movie' watch for me. The storyline is a bit of Willy Wonka and Minority Report and Back to the Future. Actually I read that the book had lots of references to Spieilberg movies, but he decided to not use any other than the BTTF DeLorean. Also a lot of pop culture references which was fun - even tho many of them passed thru me...
No name stars in the movie (at least for me). All in all, worthy of a ticket unless you despise heavy action and a LOT of CGI. The 'kids' - teens to 35 will LOVE it and it will make a bundle of $$$. I would see it again and probably get more from it and understand some things better. 'course I'm a MoviePass guy, so no charge. The last video game I played was Pacman, so kinda out of touch.
