Which town square is your favorite ? Why ? Which Square has the best hometown feel ? How would you improve your favorite square ?

I like Brownwood because of the size and the bleacher seating.

I live by Brownwood. My favorite is Spanish Springs. I like the world of beers, flippers for pizza, the variety of entertainment and the fountains.

Yes it’s crowded, yes we found parking that’s never a hassle and as close as we like.

Spanish Springs. It was the very first square we went to the first time we visited. It will always hold a special place in my heart!

LSL; closer to home and shops to browse through. SS rates up there also, just hate traveling up Morse in the cart.

Spanish Springs would be our first choice. We think Lake Sumter is better when we have visitors from the north. Lucky to have all three of them.
LSL - Tonight we walked the length of the boardwalk - captivatingly beautiful sky and water at 7 p.m. I think the stadium seating at Brownwood expands seating options for big ticket bands.

All 3 are great, but LSL gets my vote for the best. The views across the lake with the palms growing from the sand traps on Palmer are priceless. Also, the eats at the Lighthouse are near to my heart as a seafood loving NewEnglander.

We love the small town atmosphere of Spanish Springs and watching people having fun in their senior years. And, we never have trouble parking, there are so many lots behind the stores. Also love Lake Sumter Landing, but have trouble parking there. Both are great!

I like Lake Sumter Landing, by far.
I do, however, wish the center gazebo was at one end of the square. I don’t like to watch the sides or backs of the musicians on crowded days.

I've always liked Spanish Springs because it seems to be the most friendly. Sumter Landing is second. But I'm a long timer here so I'm probably a bit biased. I've had many good times at all three.

My favorite square is the one that I happen to need to go to at that time. We are blessed to have 3 totally different ones. Always something new to see and they are all beautiful and creative. Better then 3 cookie cutter gathering areas that other developments have, I actually do like the look of Brownwood as it reminds me of the old Frontier Town that I visited as a child. Lived by the water, been there done that and still love it but if you look at the structures in Brownwood it certainly looks like a hometown that possibly my ancestors lived and worshiped in the little white church.

They all have their good and bad points. I like Paddock as it is not as crowded as Sumter and not as far as Spanish Springs, the 8 restaurants give a good selection, the lines for drinks is not as long as at the others, the bleacher seating keeps the sun off and rain too in some sections, it gets the same entertainment as the other squares and lots of parking. With new restaurants coming and more commercial space being built, it will gradually become even better. The ever increasing population of villages south of 44 will attract more businesses in the near future. Rumor has it that there are negotiations underway for a restaurant in the building that was occupied by the German restaurant, if true that will add to the square's amenities.

Was the Frontier Town you spoke about in upstate New York? I went there as a kid. It was in the Lake George area I believe. We were "held up" by bandits while riding a stage coach. Such fun!
The North Pole and Fairy Town was in the area too. Great memories from my childhood.

Wow, an opinion poll post that's 3 pages long already and not a single person yet offended because someone else picked a different square than they like or are near. Nice job.
My favorite square is always the one, on any given evening, that has the best live entertainment. Maybe I should post a "who is the best band?" thread and sit back with a bucket of popcorn.

SS is the first square I visited way back when, so it hold a special place in my heart. Happy hour is 2 hours as opposed to one hour, in the other squares.
LSL is the most picturesque.

There were two. One was a cowboy western theme and the other Davy Crockett kind of stuff.

I have seen all of them, and I like none of them even though they may be cute or pretty. I prefer a real town square with lots of historical character, mature landscaping, and beautiful older houses. A perfect example would be Savannah, GA.

Great point on the 2 hour happy hour. Not only 2 for 1, but twice as long. And SS springs also has the Sharon, easily the best entertainment venue in TV.

Which brings up another subject. What has changed in our generation ? Why must we demand the biggest and the best. I grew up in what my mother referred to as a cracker box, yet she was happy.
My father made good money, union construction money, earned more than most at the time. Although he had a penchant for Buick’s, they lived a frugal life. Why I am what I am today, frugal yet demand the best. What gives ? I’m not alone in this.

I love Sumter but most often go to Spanish Springs because it's close. Often choose based on which band is playing. Spanish Springs needs more food options and retail.. The Sharon and the building with MVP in it take up half the perimeter. Really wish that parking inside the square was limited to just golf carts from 5-9. Plenty of parking beind the buildings for our non-Villager visitors in cars!. So many folks like to sit in their carts and listen to the music, but then an SUV pulls in next to you and blocks your view while taking up the space where four carts could park (double).

It would be impossible to pick a favorite. Each one has its own character that I could not say is better than that of the others. I love that the developers created each one so unique with only a few things in common (nightly music, restaurants, shopping). The rest is up to the community to create or compliment the ambiance.

Lake Sumter Landing because of the layout and the number one reason, we enjoy Starbucks coffee. After we gave up booze strong coffee is our drink of choice :)

I would say depend on what event take place at the Square.
For The Villages parades as Octoberfek parade I would choice Spanish Spring Town Square. When I have visitors I showing them around Lake Sumter Landing Market Square. Brown wood Paddock Square has bench seats, good view to watch the performances of The Villages group on special event as The Villages Christmas Tree Lighting.

Although I like all three, Lake Sumter is our favorite. We like walking the paths around the perimeter and the boardwalk along the lake. Do wish they all had the bleacher stands for seating, but don't think it goes well with the ambiance at Sumter or Spanish Springs.

Which town square is your favorite ? Why ? Which Square has the best hometown feel ? How would you improve your favorite square ?
I like Brownwood because of the roof-covered bleacher seating and the panoramic view of the stage and the view of the entire dance area. Parking is never a problem for me and I don't have to deal with roundabouts to get to the square. However, I will go to the square that offers the best entertainment. Improvements: The lines for beverages is quite long during happy hour so faster more efficient service would be an improvement. Extend the happy hour longer like SS and LSS. Change the entertainment hours from 5 to 9 to 6 to 10 at least during the Summer season, but there is probably some kind of ordinance against that.

Favorite is Lake Sumter. Sometimes way too crowded though. Wish cars were not permitted around the square during evenings.
