Darren, I am a Villages wannabee who lives about 3 miles from the Portillo's in Schaumburg, IL. You pay my airfare to Florida, I will deliver Portillo's to your doorstep! Or if you can wait until early September, I hope to be visiting TV again, and will bring Portillos to you then. :) I think Portillos would do well in The Villages, especially with former Chicagoans.

Did you write the company and ask them to look at The Villages as a future location?

Portillo's, Great Italian Beef sandwiches, we will be getting our 'Fix' when we go north in June. I believe there is a Portillo's in Sarasota or in that general area, but I could be wrong.

I talked with a manager and they said the best thing to do is get a petition together with lots of signatures and they would seriously consider it. Gurnee Illinois got one by this exact process, they have less than a third our population here.

Thank you so much for your support. If you can let friends and family know about this, every little vote counts, and the more people you tell, and then they tell...its a snowball effect.

Thanks again,
Darren

They are in Brandon and Tampa now, but that's a bit far to drive to just go eat. Gurnee Illinois got one by signing a petition, less than a third our population. Please sign petition and let friends and family know about it.

Thanks,
Darren

Portillo's is a Chicago based Restaurant that many Illinoians know is a staple for Italian Beef's and Chicago Dogs. They have spread abroad to other States and even have some in Brandon and Tampa. We need one closer than that, and I have a solution to correct that problem.

Gurnee, Illinois got a Portillo's in their City by signing a petition and sending to Corporate Headquarters. I talked to a Manager, and that is what she said we need to do here. Please join me and sign this petition to bring a Portillo's here. Spread the word and tell all your friends and neighbors, and have them pass it along also.

Go to: "thepetitionsite.com/local/us/fl/thevillages/" to sign.
Thank You,
Darren Ivey

Maybe they will come if you help finance a relocation, building, and staff.

Gurnee also has Gurnee Mills mega mall and a Six Flags amusement park. Ya think those didn't factor in to the decision to put in a Portillos? I'd rather have a Giordano's.

I be stopping at Portillo's in a couple weeks, we have a few that are very close to our northern Illinois outpost!
Great italian beef, and they also have a very good grilled yellow fin tuna sandwich!

Wish we had a Polish Restaurant besides my wife. Would be nice to go out & eat a GOOD Polish meal. We still have Kielbasa shipped from Long Island from the place we've bought it since 1986.

If you haven’t tried the Polish Deli in Leesburg, you really should. Many varieties, all wonderful. Try the Wedding sausage or the spicy Hunter’s sausage.

Rapacki's in Lindenhurst & East Meadow. Been going there since the 80's now either shipping or when we go back up North.

A Polish restaurant would fold up in less then a year. Much like that German place in Brownwood. Nothing wrong would Polish food it's just too ethnic for most. This is why Italian restaurants usually survive. Sure their ethnic too but everyone loves a good Italian dish.

Everyone loves ethnic , old country food--reminds us of the stories people told us when they were poor and this style food was the only thing they could afford- they needed high calorie, high protein food when they were working the land in the old country--all it does for a lot of Villagers- it provides ballast in golf carts , that stops them from tilting over on hard turns

My wife ask me what I wanted for my 70th birthday I said a Chicago Dog. She flew me to Chicago and I ate my fill at Clark and Ontario. PS also went to the Museums and the Aquarium. Portillo sold his share of the Corp for 104 Million dollars 2 years ago, not bad for starting out with a dog cart. Len & Mary
