Directions to the Cruise port Fort Lauderdale

Those of you that have driven to the port at Fort Lauderdale, what is the best way to go? We have never been there before and would appreciate the wisdom and knowledge of those that have.

again, use google maps and it will take you right to the front door via the Turnpike, about 4 hours.

And when you get there, have a photo I.D. ready and also cruise info ready, you will be going through a check point and may have your car checked. It does take about 4 hours to get there.

We are renting a car and dropping the car off near the cruise terminal and the car rental has a shuttle to take us to the port. Our ship disembarks in San Diego 15 days later.

We just returned from a Panama Canal Cruise on Wednesday. It definitely takes four hours to Port Everglades and that is only if you don't stop for lunch on the way. We always drive down the day before and spend the night in Sawgrass. We then board the ship around 11 am (the lines are shorter at that time) and have lunch on Board the Ship. Have a wonderful time on your cruise!

Agree with the 4 hours had a Cruise in January even the 2 buses took that long. Construction or destruction at the Pier was a bit of a pain when we were there as we left from the far terminal. The parking garage was a little bit of a PITA but it worked out ok. We always go the day before and spend the night MUCH nicer first day as others have said !

Save big money and park at the Embassy Suites near the cruise port. Then take their shuttle to your ship. Call them for details. Make sure you sign up for a shuttle time slot before you get there. You can also stay there before you sail and park for free.

And staunch advocate of going down the night before.
It just totally removes any potential anxiety for what ever reason traveling and boarding the same day.
There is a J Alexander restaurant we always look forward to enjoying the night before. Followed by an after dinner drink and a cigar on their patio!!

We do it twice per year most years!!! ANd we are ready just typing about it!!
