Does anyone know what restaurants will be opening in the "Trailwinds" development in Wildwood?

The only one I knew of was Culver’s but they screwed us and went to 466

I was told by a third party that he had heard from a reliable source that Wendy’s was going to build on 466A. That doesn’t necessarily mean trailwinds but doesn’t rule it out either. It’s probably only a manner of time until other restaurants will announce building in Trailwinds.

The manager at Jersey Mike's in Lady Lake told me they were opening one there when the developer finishes one of the rental buildings. The franchiser opened a second one in Mount Dora last year. They passed 1500 locations last year, I guess they'll put a damper on Subway across the street in Pinellas and at Tranverse.

That wouldn't surprise me. Subway stinks!

Just wondering what the new block building under construction will be...

The block building will be a Circle K gas station. Another building just started between Aldi and ABC will be rental storefronts.

Here's the plot plan;

Too bad the area isn't golf cart accessible.

Too bad the area isn't golf cart accessible.

The Villages attempted to buy the land for development of homes. Wildwood denied the request hoping a commercial developer would buy the property. The Barclay Group out of the Tampa Bay area and a developer of shopping centers all over the country stepped in and bought the property. Since the Pinellas Plaza with Winn Dixie is across the street and is owned by The Villages, they certainly aren't to make shopping at a competitor easier. In fact last summer The Villages built a split rail fence around Sand Hill Executive on the corner, apparently to keep any thoughts of a cart driver cutting through the golf course out of the question.

You made my day, John. We really love Jersey Mike's.

Heck, even a Pei Wei, Chang's fast casual version with pretty much the same menu. Smaller footprint so would be a good fit.

I'd also love to see a BJ's. They're already in Orlando so not a stretch to build here. Great SportBar/Restaurant

Thank you all for the info. Fast food seems to be the front runner. I do miss having a bit more variety but can always go outside TV if I feel like something different. Still searching for a good taco.

Fence has been there a long time, otherwise cattle would have been grazing on the course

Of course there was a fence between the farm land and the the golf course and also along 466A as well. However, after the Barclay Group started excavation The Villages installed a split rail fence and painted it brown completely AROUND the golf course about last August. If you want try and correct someone, you should have your facts correct. The fence goes all the way to the corner of Buena Vista and north to St. Charles. I drive past Sand Hill everyday on my way to MVP. Look across the street at Turtle Mound Golf Course, no fence there because there was no reason to add one around that golf Course. It was done simply to keep golf cart drivers from cutting through the course to reach Trailwinds.

A fence needs to be built keeping Wildwood resident golf carts from entering near the Alden bungalows. I've watched carts driving along the grass behind the pond right outside the tunnel that goes under Powell road near rte 44a.They drive their carts parallel to Rte 44A on the grass go partly around the pond which leads the thru the tunnel onto the multimodal path

They drive their cars parallel to Rte 44A on the grass. I'm sure this is illegal for a golf cart, but I'm doubtful the time and attention will be devoted by the Wildwood police to stopping it.

I think you should call District Property Management, 352-753-4022, and report this. I believe they will be very interested in learning about this.
