We have a 4-year old Samsung frig/freezer combo. I have personally repaired my refrigerator ice-maker twice and now my freezer has ice buildup and neither ice maker is working. I have not found an appliance repair person who will touch Samsung. Anyone know of someone who will? Thanks in advance.

While I cannot help with a Samsung repairman, I had the same problem with our Whirlpool. Turns out there was a drip adapter for the defrost cycle from the cooling coil. This was a bad design on ours and the adapter became plugged. Whirlpool had a "P" trap replacement part, about 20 minutes to install and $10 or $12 on Amazon. Try doing a search for your make and model on YouTube and Google, you may find a simple solution.
Hope this helps.

Tedquick- the Geek Squad technician is coming out this morning to look at out Samsung ice maker. Did you ever get your problem resolved?
Villagetinker - if I point to your post as a possible solution, will it annoy him that I’m quoting you as a possible solution?
Our Samsung French door fridge has been great for 3 years, all but the ice maker. That thing has struggled to put out a glass of ice in 1 minute ever since we got it.

Never mind. They are here now, and one of them has repaired hundreds. Said Samsung has designed new parts for the bad ice maker and there is now a kit that contains all the parts required to fix it. The parts are being shipped directly to our house and the GS men will be back next Tuesday to repair/replace.
Fortunately, we bought the extended warranty.

Would you be willing to make a copy of the part number(s) for this new designed ice maker repair kit? Or a picture of the label?
And then share it on this post for us who have to repair our own.
I know how to look up parts but I would like to see if there is any difference in the "new" kit compared to the last one I purchased a year or so ago.
Thanks very much....

Sure. From what I understand, there will be several boxes coming.
Watch for the update, probably within the next week.

I wrote a guide of how to replace that part and shared it with Tinker about a year ago. I am confident that is what he used. . I don't have it with me now. Perhaps he still has it and can share it with you...
If not and you want to DIY message me and I will see about writing one for you as well

I also bought Samsung appliances when we moved here 6 years ago and I will never buy Samaung appliances again. I am replacing the refrigerator and range with Frigidaire Appliances and I bought extended warranties this time. The refrigerator has two issues freezer door seal torn and I am tired of dealing with the ice maker. As far as the range oven it does not heat up to correct temperature.

Thank you. I have replace my ice maker twice in five years and also replace one for a friend. The last time I purchased a replacement was 18 months ago. I still have some of the parts and wanted to compare part numbers. I hope an updated kit will help solve the the ice maker failures.
A number of parts are interchangeable between brands and many brands are made in the common assembly plants.
Thanks,
Don

It will be interesting to see the parts required. Both the ice makers in our Samsung are junk. Top one has been replaced 4 times. The last time by me and for some reason it doesn't frost up anymore? Used to be a big problem. Fortunately, we bought the extended warr and they paid us for the unit. So I can't complain too much.

Here are pics of three packing slips from boxes we received today. Don’t know if that’s all we’ll be getting, but will know by next Tuesday, since that’s when they’re coming back.

Thanks for the parts list. I have a relatively new Samsung French Door but the ice maker always gets jammed. Usually that's due to opening the refrig so much and letting "warmish" air in which slightly melts the ice and causes it to freeze in large lumps. "Geek Squad" usually just orders every part within a 2 foot radius of the problem and figures one of the parts should do it.

I have the Samsung RF25HMEDBSR. Already replaced the ice maker once but it still freezes up about once a month or so. Have it set at -2deg. & 37deg. as per the manual. I'm wondering if I set the freezer a little higher it might prevent the ice maker from freezing up. I think I bought this thing from Best Buy. So, they know which repair parts to buy? You say Geek Squad repairs the frig??

Geek Squad came out today and installed all the parts that were shipped to us. Said to dump the first round of ise as it may have plastic parts mixed in. But after about 36 hrs our ice maker should be “good to go”.
No charge, presumably due to the extended warranty.

Please do! With the heat now here, our portable ice maker is working OT and I don't want to scratch a check for a new frig. if I can fix this ice maker in our Samsung.
UPDATED - Thanks for the pics!!!
