Is anyone else tired of the inability to get a service appointment within a reasonable time frame? Twice I have called for a service appointment and was given a TWO MONTH wait for the next appointment. Of course then they tell you to bring it in for a daily appointment before 8:00 am. I was there one day at 7:15 am and they were already filled. I have purchased 2 carts from them in excess of $30,000 yet I still need to wait two months for an appointment. This is unacceptable.

Wife had the same experience, two month wait. I don't really keep track of this stuff but I think we have already waited half the time.
In any case, I told her to document when she called who she spoke to etc.
You might try calling around. I would assume there are places that you can drive your golf cart to that have shorter waits and there are people authorized???? who can do it at your home.
REASON? There was a recent recall on the Yamaha brake cable.

I've taken my cart to Brownwood for service since 2014, to include annual maintenance, and various add-on's. I literally have never had a problem arriving in the morning and leaving it.

I picked up a used cart that was bought from them originally and is still under warranty. But no service records so I wanted to get it serviced just to make sure it's up to date. As of earlier this week, the soonest Sumter could get me in was June 25 and Brownwood was June 18. But Spanish Springs was May 18. I'm closest to Brownwood but will be making the ride to Spanish Springs to get the service done there. Now, if I need repairs to get back up and running, rather than routine service, I do hope that they can get me in sooner than 2 months.

If you are not getting warranty work done then call Todd Casey. Excellent mechanic who comes to your house to do any service you need. He does great work at a reasonable price. However, I am not sure if he works on electric carts. Both of ours are gas.

A BIG second on Todd (352) 256-2068!
I know a half-dozen or so people that have bought a new cart in the last year from Carts and Clubs in Ocala and to a person...they are ecstatic.
They said they saved a substantial amount of money on the purchase, they love the little things (like the unique vented windshield) that C&C puts on their carts...and never have a problem with scheduling service or repairs.
My next new cart will definitely...come from them.

If you are worried about your warranty staying intact, the Villages will recommend service centers that they trust that can do the regular service. Keep the service receipt and youll be fine.

The last I heard they had 16 trucks doing service work.
They also sell and service carts in the Ocala/northern area.
For a single family business they're doing just fine.
They're primarily a cart sales business that services the carts they sell.

I can't think of any golf cart retail store that offers golf-cart-accessible service other than The Villages Golf Cars. And I going to assume that this is no accident. It's by design - why let "the competition" have the same advantage?

My original complaint wasn’t the service but the availability to get an appointment is a reasonable time frame. I have since learned that this availability is across all their garages. I learned that the Sumter Landing garage has 13 bays to perform service; however, only 6 are currently being used. They do not have enough mechanics to fill the bays. Hence the long delays in obtaining service.

Do you mean if Villages Golf Carts at LSL is busy, they might direct you to take the cart to Villages Golf Cart Centers at Brownwood or Spanish Springs?
When I've called Villages Golf Carts, there is a ridiculously long wait at LSL.
If there is another Service Center, other than Villages Golf carts at BW or SS, please let us know.

That is fascinating information. Prices are expensive at Villages Golf Carts.
You'd they'd be able to attract good mechanics and pay them well.

If you require basic, preventive maintenance, do it yourself. These things require minimal maintenance - oil changes every 50-75 hours, replace the spark plug every 5 years or so, replace the air filter every five years or so, shoot some grease into the zerk fitting on the clutches every year, replace the differential fluid every couple of years. These are all trivial tasks. Repairs may be a different story.

I doubt that is affecting appointments now at Villages Golf Carts.
I believe the recall was handled back in March.
On March 14 Gordon's Garage at LSL had a day when you could bring your golf cart in to be checked.
Villages Golf Carts garages at Spanish Springs and Brownwood did the same.

Have never had a problem getting our carts in for service until last year. 5 weeks for appointments started last July, that was befor the recall. Didn’t matter if it was SS, LSL, or Brownwood. Our salesman said they didn’t have enough staff. Of course C&C is three weeks for appointment also.

We purchased our electric Yamaha from Villages Golf Cars in Colony Plaza. One of the cart options I find extremely important to me is a steering wheel that has self canceling directionals (just like a car).
Villages Golf Cars offered that option. C&C does not offer that steering wheel with self canceling directionals. Our steering wheel also has a switch for bright lights (just like a car) which I find invaluable when driving our cart at night. C&C does not offer bright lights on their carts.
Needless to say, I'm a very happy camper that we purchased our cart at Villages Golf Cars. I will never purchase a cart at C&C if they will not offer that invaluable steering wheel as an option.

Do any of these maintenance items have to be done on an electric cart? If not, what type of maintenance has to be done on an electric cart other than adding water to the batteries? Our cart has some type of auto refill system so it is very easy to add the water and not over fill the system.

There are a number of things to check on electric carts, some apply to all carts. Brake Performance and pads, parking brake adjustment, check that your charger is operating properly, Tire pressure, wheel alignment, grease all fittings, Clean battery terminals and check cables, check battery levels (if auto fill make sure it is operating properly since it can overfill), check rear end oil level.

I bring our electric cart in for routine maintenance on an annual basis. I honestly don't do any of the other things you listed in the interim except filling the batteries with water.

i had my cart service by one of the big dealers and 2 weeks later it needed water in the batterys . so i do my own service work now . all they did was check tire pressure, water level , rear oil and take it for a ride all for $90, i think I'm the one who was taken for a ride.

Until people walk into the Villages Golf Cart stores and tell them " you agree to service the cart within two or three weeks of my call in writing as a condition to buying a cart from you " nothing is likely to change. We've bought two carts from them and now have little recourse but to listen to excuses when it comes to scheduling service. New " Villagers " , it is probably up to you if there are to be any changes.

There are essentially two levels of service: preventive maintenance (or some sort of upgrade) on an operative cart and repair for an inoperative cart. The former can wait for an appointment. For the latter, they will probably give you a free loaner.

I took my Cart into the Sumter Golf Shop for some maintenance. I received a quote and said OK. When I picked it up I noticed the amount was greater than quoted so I asked the Maintenance person what was the reason. He pointed out on the Receipt that they, oiled and greased it . I said I was not a mechanic but I knew they did not oil and grease an electric cart. He said he was sorry and it was a mistake. That the people who do the work push some button and it prints out a bill and the mechanic pushed the wrong button. Funny..!!!:mornincoffee:

Bought our first cart from The Villages Discount Golf Cart Man (Don't ask and never again) New 2018 Yamaha EFI quiet Drive 2 from Carts and Clubs delivered last week. Does not have the cancelling turn signals as some have mentioned here, but they now include small LED flashers that are mounted to the windshield struts to let you know your turn signal is on. All service is done at your home including first free oil change at 1000 miles. There is also a difference in the speed settings from the carts that are purchased st The Villages Golf Cart stores. Not wanting to get that raving debate going again....I'll just say it's faster.

New policy for service at all three locations. If you didnt buy you cart directly from TV you cannot make a service appointment. You have to use the drive up service. I was told this information today 10/5/18. I picked my cart up from service today at the Sumter Landing and I wanted to make my annual service appointment for next year and I was told that I couldn't, my cart was bought from the EZGO location behind the Lange Eye Building. The three service locations are already to small and probably understaff.

1. Buy a good electric cart, be sure to get the automatic watering system that adds water, very well.
Keep the batteries clean and WD spray the connectors.
Keep it fully charged and add water after every charge.
2. Enjoy the first 2 or 3 years with no maintenance and have any checkup done by the guy "*********" he comes to your house.

Today I was very surprised and impressed with the service at Brownwood. I would say they're making good decisions to provide excellent service. I had received a notice on my 2017 Yamaha gas cart regarding the need for replacing a piece of hardware on the accelerator. I drove up to the service entrance at 2:20 PM and was greeted at the curb with the question of "is it here for service or recall?" I responded recall and two service technicians immediately took care of the problem while at the curb with me watching. They even had the required parts outside in the "special" line ready to install. The technicians were very efficient, floor panel removed, and a new spring was installed, no charge, and I was driving away at 2:33, very pleased. The other carts in front of me never moved ahead during that time as they were obviously there for more intensive service. My compliments to them in recognizing that by segregating the type of work needing done, more customers can be accommodated. Naturally, I realize that it is advantageous to them also to not have a "recall customer" standing around bitching to the others in line about the reason for a recall. I felt like the situation was properly handled and mine was a job that did not require putting the cart on a lift. The customers still in line had been informed that all the lifts in the shop were in use and everybody seemed to be patient and understanding. -----Well done Villages Carts!! ------

Most Service Companies, when blasted by more work than they can handle, would expand their hours from Monday to Friday and pay the overtime to the technicians and open on Saturday. Possibly Sunday if needed. Just saying. At least until the backlog is resolved.
I called SS for a level 2 Service the day after I breezed through the Spring Replacement setup out in the parking lot. One week later dropped the cart off at 9.30 AM picked it up the next day at 3 PM. Excellent service for us. NOTHING but happy.
Sorry for everybody else's trouble. Two close friends just switched to The Villages Golf Carts after they both were Waffled by C & C'S service. Everyone has different experiences because everybody has different expectations and outcomes.

You are incorrect chickie. They saw a "bottleneck" problem and found a way to ease it and please many customers. That impressed me as being very intelligent. Most everyone understands legal troubles that could result if they were to ignore simple corrections that improve safety. They didn't become large by being stupid.
It may not be possible to come up with enough facilities or technically competent workers given our booming population and number of golf carts. Trained technicians can only work so many hours, you know. I think they are on the right track. Sorting the customers needing attention that does not require the lift or regular work station actually speeds things up for those needing more shop time when you actually think about it. That is my point and I appreciate their service.
