I’m sitting here in Connecticut, Waiting for the snow,
Trying to stay warm like you, but by the fire's glow.
It’s cold, it’s cold , so cold out there, I will not go out the door,
I’ll sit here wrapped up in my blanket, Here for two weeks more.:coolsmiley:
Grandkids are at a party, Tonight and tomorrow too,
The storm is heading up the coast, They say a foot or two.
If it snows a foot or two, I’ll shovel to get it clear,
The town plow will then come by, and put the snow back there.
The Holiday celebrations, Will be here very quick,
We’ll have our fun, our hugs and kisses, and hopefully not get sick.
But we’ll be back, Just wait and see,
Two weeks more, Back to T.V.:)

It’s the eve of a snowstorm here on the Jersey coast
With temperatures anything but a roast.
My husband is a twitter with anticipation
And I’m at the ‘puter dreading the precipitation.
Tomorrow he’ll snowblow and I’ll do some bakin’
The weather and shopping will all be forsaken.
A month from today this will all be behind
As we’ll be headed for The Villages and friends ever so kind.
It’s enough to look forward to for tonite and tomorrow;
For soon it will be sunshine and no winter sorrow!

Hey, you two, I should not have looked,
Now, for sure, my goose is cooked.
There will be no sleep for me tonight,
Wide-awake working on a poem just right.
To answer you and let you know,
That I really like those rhymes 'bout snow.
Thanks tpop and njbchbum.

We're downeast in Maine,
It's single degrees
That's Fahrenheit, not Celsius,
Temps, if you please.
The snowflakes are blowing,
Just south of our home,
We hope that it stays there
Or we surely will groan....
Katezboxette arrived in
Connecticut last night.
She's off to see Essex
In the snow - it's just right.
We'll drive south to Boston,
Then to Connecticut we"ill go
And then off to Atlanta
Where we hope there's no snow.
From Atlanta then back
to The Villages (hooiray)
To start of the New Year
In the best possible way.

Dear Katezbox:
When you get to Atlanta, we'll have waiting for you--
Temps in the 50s, perhaps some sun too.
Not nearly as nice as the TV air,
And I can hardly wait to see you there!
Also sending warm wishes to my friends up north,
Who all about snow are holding forth.
It might be a hassle, it might be a pain,
but it sure is much prettier than bitter, cold rain.
Recent downpours in Atlanta have made land into sea
And have me longing, like Northeasterners, to be in TV!

As I sit at my ‘puter looking out at it snowing,
I can call up the SS webcam to watch the palms blowing.
Or tune to the LSL camera to see who is around
But there’s more of that sunshine - it seems to abound.
It's visions of sunshine and palm trees that dance in my head.
They seem to remain there while I'm even in bed.
But outside I must go, my hair needs a trim;
There are groceries to buy and I feel lottery ticket whim.
No need to shovel, the snow’s not that deep yet.
And the plows will come by - that’s a safe bet.
But pay for that service - we do around here - golly gee!
I’d rather be in the Villages where snowplowing is free!

Over the river and through the woods
To Sam's Club we did just go
The van knew the way
to follow the sleigh
through the wet and sketchy snow.
Over the overpass and through the streets
to buy the Christmas dinner.
Lamb roast and a toast and some potatoes to roast
and cherry pie should be a winner.
Over the hills and to the stores
Until this month is o'er.
Until then friends we wish
for YOUR favorite dish
and health and happiness galore!

Two Feet on the ground
last week it was my own feet on TV soil
today it's two feet of stinkin white stuff.
in the day, stinkin white stuff had double meanings to different people
Mom called milk good and snow stinkin (had to stay home and put up with me)
I called snow good and milk stinkin.
Have times changed??
No, we have.
I'm selling it cheap.

Poerty's a knot that's hard to untie.
Which is why when you write it, I don't even try.
If I ever would write it, it'd be obviously poor.
So you'd know at the start that I'm amateur.
Its prose nice and clear that I read with great favor
'cause its tells me a story and I'm no English major.

You should try it more often, without all the knocks;
You think you can't do it? Your poetry rocks. :highfive:

What do we have here, for all to see?
A poem by Tony, as fine as can be.
(For a very long time, I have been wise to Tony,
Denies he’s an English major – a buncha baloney.)
And so, Tony, Tony, take a look around,
See that snow, piled high, out there on the ground.
It’s a Currier & Ives scene that will surely inspire,
You will stop all-day snoring in front of the fire.
At last, Mr. Tony, you will end this ruse,
You will open up your laptop and invoke your muse.
Move over Rod McKuen. (Am I showing my age?)
TOTV’s Poet Laureate will take the stage.
Your life as a poet, Tony, will now begin,
And we will sit back and watch and say we knew you when.
Boomer
PS: Mr. Tony, it looks like you are now ready for membership in the Professional Organization of English Majors. (POEM) heard about on Prairie Home Companion.
A mysterious lady named Boomer
laid claims that could not be truer.
She tried to say truly
without uujudy
Tony's poem clearly shows througher.
The lady advanced her false thought
and asked what poetry's wrought.
She won't be derailed
even though its detailed
she's snooping around all for nought.
If she says this all to deflect
what really she knows is correct,
then all will believe
that she cannot deceive
when she tells his reputation's been wrecked.
Its nighttime she fears with elan
when her fingers would fly until dawn.
The truth would be writ
and she'd have to admit
what's really has always gone on.

Comes Tpop, comes NJ...bum, comes Skip, comes Boomer;
Comes Katezbox, Graciegirl, Larry and Linda;
Comes Tony and me, all waxing poetic--
Yet only the Admin. claims his is pathetic.
Is he mocking us by saying he can't rhyme worth a damn? :duck:
Should the rest of us blush for thinking we can? :o
At poetry is he really more of a klutz?
Methinks he doth protest too much!
