My sister and BIL will be moving to TV within the next year. Their moving company will be using a two household van for their move. They have been informed by their moving company that if the van can not make the turns in a community with small streets, their household will be offloaded onto a smaller truck and they will be charged accordingly.

Has there been a problem with these large moving vans maneuvering around TV streets, making turns, going through the gates and so forth? They will be purchasing a Designer home.

Thank you for your advise.

I can't picture any street in The Villages where a semi could not fit easily.

Tell your friends to not worry. All streets and gates are moving van friendly.

But.........it seems that there was SOMETHING written here a while back about blocking the street or parking too long and the van had to be off loaded onto smaller ones for delivery.

I believe you have 72 hours to unload. Also I've seen many large trailer trucks in th villages maneuvering without problems

Where is it written you have 72 hours. Could you be thinking about the 72 hours a RV can be in your driveway?

if you take a drive through the newer sections you will see large vans and even freight trucks parked for the whole day. I dont know about the 72 hour thing but I would think you would have ample time to get in and out.

You will have ample time to get the truck unloaded. No one will complain. There are not incredibly strict rules enforced by armed constibles (contrary to what you might conclude reading some of the posts out here). Everyone has to move in at some time, and really everyone I've encountered seems pretty reasonable about everything that folks do.

Having driven Over the Road many years, there is plenty of room to fit a commercial vehicle in The Villages. I see them alot here. And if the company states they are using Vans not the larger Semi, then you have no problem. The only issue I know of would be in the Villa Units. Even though there is alot of rooms on the roads the turning ratio comes into play. A good Driver could back down into some of the Villa Units, but would be tight. That might be a consideration.

But yes, most compaines will charge you extra if they have to transfer the goods from one vehicle to another to complete the move.

It occurs to me that The Villages want people to MOVE IN. So they have made all the necessary accesses. It isn't likely that there will be any impediments.
