If Friday is our regular collection day and Christmas falls on Friday...will the garbage be picked up on a different day?
I know some will advise me to look it up ... I just don't have the time because I have to go to work!
Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to all!

No makeup day....just have to hold your trash til your next scheduled day on Tuesday.
Our recycle day is Friday; next Friday is New Year's Day....I'm hoping there will be service that day, otherwise, the recyclables will sure be stacking up.
Just re-read the paper...BogeyBoy is correct. No regular trash service on Friday...resumes next Tues; However, they will come by on Saturday for recyclables.
Same schedule next week.

This gets confusing every year - I always end up in a house with trash pick up and Christmas on the same day. (Don't ask me how that happens, just attribute it to living in multiple houses in TV.)
Again this year I am faced with the question - put the trash out on Christmas Day or leave it in the garage?
The newspaper clearly states "CH2M Hill Omi will be closed Friday and Jan 1. Customers who have trash pickup on Fridays will have trash pickup on the following Tuesday and Jan 5. For Friday recycling customers only, pickup will be on Saturday and Jan 2.
Why is this confusing? Because I have had trash pickup on Christmas Day in the past after having read the same message in the newspaper. The trucks cruised through the neighborhood in record time because no one had taken the trash to the curb after reading the Daily Sun.
I did call the phone number in TV phone book for "Sumter Sanitation, LLC". 352-748-0109. No one answered, I got a message that said they were CH2M Hill Omi.
Have the resident closest to your gate sit on a lawn chair Friday. (He/she better have an umbrella.) If he sees the garbage truck coming he can use a loudspeaker to make an announcement so everyone can rush their trash to the curb.
I think I need another cup of coffee, I've lost sleep over this trash issue, maybe I'll put mine at my neighbor's curb, then I won't look like the fool who can't read the paper. Or maybe he'll look like the genius with "insider" trash info!

Merry Christmas!!

That's hysterical....I love it! We could have gate parties throughout the community.... :)
Merry Christmas

I did read about the Saturday recycling schedule...I read Friday's Christmas paper Saturday afternoon...right after the recycling truck passed by the house!
Maybe they could post the schedule a little bit further in advance for those of us who are behind in their reading!
We have Friday trash and recycling. This week and next they will pick up recycling only on Saturday. Our regular trash day is Tuesday.

Friday is our normal day but we had garbage pick up yesterday don't ask me why though...GN
People who put out trash in our neighborhood did not have it picked up. Only recyclables. Maybe they mistook it for recycling?

Our pick-up days are Mon & Thurs as well. All holidays are observed by the pick-up operators and specifically speaking of this up coming Monday, I am not expecting our trash to be picked up. Guess there will be plenty of recycled material for the following week since that is only picked up on Mondays for us.

There is always an explanation in the Daily Sun a few days before a holiday.
As a last resort look down the street the eve of a holiday.....if you see trash out thats a good clue.

I checked the Sun yesterday and today. The only reference to trash collection was for Lake County. Anybody know for sure about Sumter and Marion?

we are talking about trash pick up. Any body know where I can dispose of two old golf cart tires with wheels. The garbage guys won't pick them up. They would make great boat fenders.

I live in Marion county. I am going to put mine out but am going to skip the newspapers. That way I only have to lug one bag back in if hey do not show.

If there is nothing wrong with them, you can usually put them by the curb and someone will come along and take them for spares.
However, the ones I have don't hold air so I an taking them to the dump in Weirsdale off rt 42 (Marion county) once I clean the garage and get all of the other junk I want to get rid of lined up.

Go south on Rolling Acres Road from CR466. There is a transfer station on the left about a mile. I believe they are only open on Tues & Thursdays. They take old TV,etc.

Thanks for the relpies and the website. The reason I asked was that not all holidays are created equal and at our house in Virginia we had "behind the house" pickup. We never had to worry what day it was. I just got picked up. But, the house before that we had to put it out to the curb on Mondays. Since lots of holidays are on Mondays, it was a crapshoot as to which they would observe. Anyway thanks.

I put my garbage bag out and the truck picked it up at 6:15. I looked up and down the street and only about four of us had put stuff out.
At 6:30, the recycling truck came through.
FYI: The Daily Sun did not say anything about not having trash pick up in Marion and Sumter counties. Only Lake had the restriction.

All bets are off! - No matter what you see in writing, someone will turn it around on you. The garbage truck picked up our street at 8 am and I missed it!

Like others, I looked up the "schedule" there....even printed it for future reference. It will now be referenced in the trash. They were here at 5:15 and 5:30 this morning.
