A loved one needs to get many implants for health reasons not cosmetic reasons.
Can you point me in the right direction?
If I google implant insurance I get many ads and hits but they seem to be ADS not actual advice from a university and hospital.
thank-you

One thing before you sign up for any plan is check out the "missing tooth clause". This means that if this is in effect any missing teeth which are missing before you sign up for the policy are not covered for an implant. We recently changed plans and found out after the fact that our new policy had this clause.

Do you have a dentist you like/trust down here? My dentist has a person who deals with insurance, and she has helped me with insurance issues, including going to bat for me with my insurance company. That's where I would go for advice first. They really know their stuff.
If you don't have a dentist, I can surely suggest one whose insurance person would be very helpful. And the dentist himself is a gem. He did an implant for me and did a wonderful job.

For implants Dr. Caylor is the best around. I had three. I had also several extractions. Sometimes he will do an implant and an extraction in the same appointment provided you don't need bone put in. If you do, he does that at the same time he does the extraction. He did this under anesthesia. I had no pain at all and had almost no bleeding with all three. The same result for my husband. He is in Laurel manor. He has a CAT scan machine in his office and will scan the sinus area so he knows how deep to put in the implants so as not to drill into the sinus cavity. This is an important step.

A little clarification... you can't do an implant in one day. Start it maybe, but there's healing involved and a few different steps to go through.

Yes, sorry. First you get the tooth pulled, then it heals, then they put in the implant. Then later on you go to your dentist and they finish the job with the crown. They have pulled a tooth and put in bone the same day. The price quote you will get from Dr. Caylor does not include the cost of the crown you will get from your dentist. We use Dr. Lesh at Southern Trace Dental.

My dentist did the whole thing, start to finish (crown). I think in total I sat in that chair for a year.:o
(Okay, a slight exaggeration...)

With Dr. Caylor I think it was an hour or so maybe one hour fifteen to put it in. I came back twice to get it checked for a 5 minute appointment (included in price). Then he gave me a little baggie of stuff. I took that to my dentist. He did a mouth impression to get the size of the tooth to make. They then made the crown. Then I went back to have it seated. It was a process but I had no complications so I felt pretty lucky. I love my new implants they are strong and look just like my old tooth only prettier.

Thank-you all very much.
My 30 year old daughter lives in NJ and has health issues that are causing her teeth to go bad. She has had many root canals and now the doctor is recommending implants. She asked me if I could find out if there was a way her insurance would pick up the fee if it was not cosmetic or is there implant insurance plan she could get. She has been seeing this father/daughter dental practice since she was a little girl. I have tried google news for [all article the last year] and google search all for implant insurance hits.

Tom calling the customer service representative at her insurance company would be a good place to start. Finding out if her own health insurance may cover it since it might be a medical situation. The only problem with you doing that for her as they may not talk to you because of HIPPA laws. She can sign a form with them naming you or if you are in the same room with her she can give her ok and pass the phone to you so that you may discuss her situation. I have been through this with my elderly mother-in-law and they would not give me any information without her approval.
