Cognitive Distortions: Overgeneralizing — Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Los Angeles (http://cogbtherapy.com/cbt-blog/cognitive-distortions-overgeneralizing)

Socrates had an attractive wife.

Does that mean that all philosophers have attractive wives?? Maybe they have husbands? Or partners? Or are celibate? Maybe they are members of the Clergy? Maybe they were hurt in battle and cannot be all that intimate due to any variety of conditions?

I just see a lot of this kind of reasoning from some people.

I long ago quit taking exception with the overt staring at my beautiful wife and now just accept the drooling and staring...as the ultimate compliment.

The ultimate compliment is when someone tells you what excellent taste in mates you both have and how kind and wonderful you both are and how much you both have contributed to the success and happiness of your children.

Xanthippe - Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xanthippe)

"After thunder comes the rain."

Xanthippe allegedly after a heated argument poured a chamber pot over Socrates' head. And Socrates responded with "After thunder comes the rain".

Now do all fights between philosophers result in chamber posts being poured over their heads by their wives?

That is a very nice compliment and very true.
