Has anyone flown in the last few days? We are heading back down to TV tomorrow and I am wondering if we are going to have long delays due to the security issues. SOmeone told me yesterday they don't want passengers using the restroom an hour before landing??? Please tell me that can't be true????

That appears only to be on International flights....The no carry-on seems limited to Air Canada flights. Domestic flights have long security lines but nothing new in procedures.

I flew home from Cancun on Saturday via Atlanta. You were not allowed to have anything in your lap for the last hour of flight time, and no passengers were allowed to leave their seats for any reason over that last hour. A ridiculous rule, but what choice to we have but to follow it? I was especially incensed, as my girlfriend had fractured her ankle in Cancun and had just had surgery, and they made her give up her blanket. The good news is that this morning's New York Times reported that airline captains now have the discretion of whether or not to restrict movement in the cabin. They have fully relaxed the "nothing in your lap" rules, and that's a good thing.

Anyone used Sanford?
Allegiant Air has $45(plus fine print) NS flights to Sanford from a regional airport near us, and both of these facilities are easier to get to and through than MCO and BWI, with parking an easy walk to the terminal and rental cars adjacent like in the good ol days.

My dad flew from Orlando to Memphis on Tues., but other than a 45 min. wait in the security line, and a 55 min. wait sitting on the plane before leaving the gate because they had put in too much fuel, it was uneventful....

:wave:We have flown from Sanford. Ii is quick and easy. We flew to Hagerstown MD. Parking at the airport is expensive but you park about 50 yds. from terminal. There was no line at TSA, breezed right through. We saved at least an hour on each end.

THANKS!
Hagerstown is very close to our home, so we wanted to give it a shot.
Reviews are not that good on epinions and tripadvisor but we have learned that reviews are often "OH"pinions so if it's good enough for you, it's good enough for us.
We don't need free junk food and a less-than-five-star seat is not a problem for a couple hours
One thing allegiant offers is large baggage dimension permissability

Sanford seems closer and no tolls
we often prefer non-turnpike driving too

Maybe the costly parking is in Sanford, where we will not need to park,
and were they have lower cost rentals
Just looked up the HAG airport

wow,
No lines
FREE parking,
NO police on your rear,
walk to terminal...
Why can't MORE terminals be like this?
even if we don't get the peanuts and snak pak, no whoop.
Anyone know if there's a place near sanford where we could leave a car long term, as we will be coming down to TV once a month for a few days?

Unfortunately, we will not be able to visit any more this year.

We flew in from Philadelphia yesterday. We listened to the talking heads (news media) and gave ourselves an extra hour to go through security. It took us seven minutes from the time we exited the car until we cleared security. We didn't see any changes at all.

Update: We flew out of Detroit yesterday and it only took about 20mins to get through security. I think most of those security people were bored out of their minds. We realized after we went through it that my husband had matches in his laptop case and I had toiletries that I didn't put in the bins and no one said a word to us!! There were a lot of flight delays into DTW from other parts of the country with bad weather, putting us into MCO about 2hrs late....but we are back in TV.....:a040::a040::a040:

We just returned from the West Coast and did not experience any changes in security. My husband was wanded down but always is due to two hip replacements. (The metal sets the machine off). We were able to use the restrooms up until boarding and, in fact, many passengers used the restrooms on board prior to take off.

We flew from Germany to NYC on New Year's Day and didn't encounter anything but the normal security measures. However, screening seems to be a bit more thorough in Germany but it moves relatively quickly. Also, there was no restriction on getting up to visit the bathrooms except during actual takeoffs and landings, which is normal.
