This is our first Memorial Day in The Villages. I am so pleased and impressed to see the way our residents have taken the time to decorate the entryways to their villages, it is absolutely beautiful to see! Thank you to all who gave of their time to honor those that we have lost. I am very lucky and proud to live here!

I know this will sound petty, but I wish more people would put out a flag, or two, on the important national holidays. The snowbirds obviously aside, is there any reason not to minimally celebrate our common heritage ?

We live on a corner and use36 flags for holidays, most on our street put them out. However with the extended rain, some have held off

Went to the National Cemetery in Bushnell this morning along with 1400 volunteers from the Villages to put flags on every grave (150,000). We put out a LOT of flags

The flags are beautiful to see. I have never lived anywhere with so many flags displayed on the streets. God Bless America.

A Villager on Newburn Lane in the Village of Tamarind Grove has three memorial bronze battle crosses in their driveway-- really breath taking

As we reflect on this Memorial Day, let us pause to honor those who answered their country's call to serve for something bigger than themselves and of whom, many made the ultimate sacrifice. Honor these Men and Women. Remember their sacrifice. And take the time to educate the current generation who sadly are not taught today that Freedom and our way of life were not given to us for free but rather paid for by the blood and sacrifice of their fellow Americans who saw a higher calling. Hand salute to all.

Well stated!
And that's ALL today should be about.
