I live within The Villages and I require hip replacement surgery. I prefer the Anterior Approach. Does anybody have any surgeon suggestions or comments on how I go forward? Thanks in advance!

You might want to google Joseph R. Locker, M.D. - The Orthopaedic Institute both in Ocala and Lady Lake....came highly recommended to me when I was considering shoulder surgery...also does the type of hip surgery you are speaking of.

Also consider Dr. Eithier at the Specialty center.....several of us have had ours done by him.

Operates out of Celebration Hospital, more great recommendations.
After 2 weeks I was ready to play golf again but doc made me wait.
He does not recommend physical therapy.
Did I mention that he is great, giggle.

My ex-husband who is 80, had his anterior hip replacement done by Dr. Dean Cole in Orlando. This man is a genius, does it all by computer, has designed many of the replacement parts himself. His office is a fine-tuned operation. Recovery was minimal. His scar is about 4 inches in his groin area. I can't say enough good things about this doctor and the treatment he received at ORMC. Its a great hospital.
BTW, 4 other doctors in the Villages and Ocala areas turned him down because of his age. Dr. Cole never hesitated.

Had both hips replaced Anterior method. Only way to go. No cutting of the muscles like side entry. Quick recovery. Climbed set of emergency exit stairs in the hospital day or two after surgery.
Not every Orthopedic has the education or training yet. More advanced, modern method in the U.S. Think it began in the U.K. years ago.
Advice: be selective, Surgeon qualifications most important, get their background info., medical school, experience, etc.
Hospital requires special surgical table to perform anterior operation, not all have. Must have this table and the special boots during surgery. Read on-line about the surgery.

What kind of ortho does not recommend physical therapy? An arrogant one.

True talent isn’t arrogant, simply misunderstood.

Hmmm! All celebration hospital staff told me Dr. MESSIEH is the best!
The results are answer to this question! Never had one bit of problem with surgery!
