We recently took a drive around the Villages to see all the nice Christmas (Holiday) decorations. It was wonderful. Some people go all out and I commend them on their efforts of festiveness. We noticed however, a lack of decorations compared to previous years. Other than the houses, there's barely a wreath here and there as you drive around. At the entrance to most Villages, the decorations were done by the residents and not by the developer. Years back, every entrance had major decorations. In fact at Creekside Landing, La Zamora (at CR466), and others, there are NO decorations at all. Also we no longer have lights in the trees around the gazebo in Spanish Springs and we no longer have a beautifully decorated tall tree at the Morse Circle (Morse Blvd. and Paige Pl.). The decorations are dwindling each year.
Many large corporations have a weekly or monthly newsletter/newspaper and around this time of year, the company officers would send their good wishes to their employees for a Happy Holiday and Prosperous New Year via that publication. I see on the TV that most networks still wish their viewers good wishes at this time of year too. The news department is especially well wishing with personal messages from the anchors and reporters. My bank (not Citizens First) sent me a holiday card with good wishes and so did my lawyer and broker, a personal one at that. I even got one via email from The Talk Of The Villages! Thanks!
It's a season to send others who are important to us, a greeting for a wonderful season and all the best for the coming year. But I didn't see anything from The Villages developer! Not on WVLG Radio, not in the Daily Sun, not on Channel 2 - nothing! You would think that Jennifer, Mark and Tracy, or even Gary Morse, would wish all the residents a Happy Holiday Season. I find this disturbing and I'm sure if old man Harold was still here, he would have been out on the square last night at midnight, shaking people's hands and wishing you a "Happy New Year", and asking "How are you?".
The message I seem to get from the developer today is: "Bah Humbug!".

PS: "Happy New Year", Villagers. All the best to you for 2010. This is the best way I can reach everyone.
