Red Sauce is coming out with a new menu & we saw a copy of it Friday night. Many of the wines on their wine list will cost $10 a bottle more when this menu takes effect. Is it just me, or is this outrageous?

In another thread on "Red Sauce" this past summer, I complained about being charged $9 for wine by the glass.....Chanti!
My wife and I ended up spending more than $50 for dinner for 2, as I had 2 glasses of wine and ended up being surprised by the price(more than NY City wine by the glass).
When I told the waitress of my "surprise" she said she would normally have told me about the high price, but the staff was told to NOT tell customers the price unless asked.
Not been back since!

Good idea. Vote with our feet!
And yes, $10 more per bottle IS OUTRAGEOUS.

Ouch
Gotta disagree!
I routinely spend 7-10 dollars for wine at a liquer store and a restaurant must make a little profit.
If you said $10 a glass I'd be a little suspect but $10 a bottle is no problem -

Yes they are entitled to make a profit. But my understanding of the first post might be different than yours. I read that to say that Redsauce, who may be charging maybe $22 for that 7-10 bottle you mentioned, will very soon be charging $32 for that same bottle. If I am correct then I hope they do not look for me to buy wine next time we dine there. If I have it wrong then my apologies.

In reading jllewi's post, it says $10.00 a bottle "more" than it was. That's a big jump in price. I don't go there anymore because of their happy hour times.

That was my take too. $10 more per bottle.

I read the same thing.
$10 on a $22 bottle is a 45% increase, that's a little steep.
I have another one for all you wine lovers.
A few weeks ago the "Wine Bar" at LSL was selling the same wine that was selling at CVS for $3.33 a bottle, or 3 for $10.00, for $4.00 a glass!

Unfortunately, that's pretty standard. If you order a glass of Beringer or something similar, it's usually about $3.00 a glass for happy hour then up to about $5.00 or so regular price. I think Garvinos is pretty pricey.

Who owns the wine bar at LSL?

I thought the poster meant Garvinos. I believe the wine bar at LSL is run by the Villages.

Sorry I didn't mean Garvino's, it was the wine bar on the Square. Maybe it's called the Wine Hut?

Come on folks. Most places make a 200% to 300% profit on wine. Especially the low end wine. If they buy it for $10, they sell it for $30. Only when you get up into the $50 plus bottles does the margin drop, but they still sell it for $100. I actually find Garvino's reasonable. I can buy a decent bottle of wine in the shop for $20 to $30 and they charge a $10 fee to serve it with live music. That is cheaper then any restaurant. When it is a cold as it has been lately, you will find me there and not the square.

We stopped in the other day to get a couple of pieces of their bread pudding to bring home for dessert. What a change in price for that! We used to get a huge piece for $1. Now, it's a piece less than half the original size and it's over $1.50. We won't be stopping by there again any time soon.

Is this the beginning of the end for Red Sauce?

Lets see how they do in the middle of summer when they have only the full time residents to contend with.
We like to eat out, but we watch our budget and have already scratched them off our list of favorite places.
