My wife is in need of a dentist here in Florida. She has a fear of dentists due to a bad experience she had with a tooth removal years ago. Going to her dentist in Maine is not a good option for us as we are here year round. We’d like to find someone who understand that apprehension, offers sedation, and not in business to up sell high cost treatments such as implants unless they are absolutely necessary. Thanks in advance for any recommendations or experiences you might be able to share.

Dr. Jerkins in Fruitland Park is the office for your wife. I saw him as an emergency. He took x-rays, prescribed an antibiotic and recommended I come back for a cleaning. No attempt to sell a list of treatments for thousands of dollars. I told him I was afraid of dentists. He told me he was, too. Very gentle. Great office staff. I’ve been going to him for 10 years now. Easily the longest I have ever regularly gone to the same dentist.

Since I haven't been happy with any of the dentists I've went to here, I will give him a try...based on his sense of humor alone.

I second Dr. Jerkins. I, too, have had some very bad experiences in the past. He does not suggest anything that isn't necessary. So far, all I've needed are my routine cleanings. This will give you an idea of what kind of person he is. Every Christmas, he takes all his staff on a surprise trip for the day. His walls have photos from all over the country. They fly out early in the morning and return late in the evening. Nashville, NYC, this year Ashville, NC. Wow, what a way to show your staff how much they are appreciated. I never wait when I go, am out in very little time. can't say enough good things about him.

I went to Dr. Jerkins on Mike's suggestion and have been very happy with his treatment and staff.

Didn't tell me I needed thousands of dollars of treatment and performs the minimal treatment necessary.

Very happy with Dr. Jerkins.

Definitely Dr. Jerkins! I had gone to another dentist who told me I needed thousands of dollars worth of work which I found highly suspect. Went to Dr. Jerkins and he told me there was nothing wrong with any of my teeth and that he was 90% sure I had a sinus infection. He prescribed antibiotics and sure enough all pain disappeared. My husband broke a front tooth and Dr. Jerkins fit him in immediately and took care of him. I highly recommend him and his staff is really nice.

Dr. Reem Jabar who is taking patients at Palm Ridge Dentistry is very kind. I see Dr. Kathleen Williams at the same practice. They are kind and were very well educated at University of Florida. I have had no unnecessary treatment in ten years. I don't know if they give medication for fear. You could call and ask. They are the best dentists we have ever used.

Dr. Jerkins does not pull teeth. He sends you to another doc who does it as a business. At his suggestion, I used Dr. Chris Johnson in Leesburg

Can anyone recommend a dentist who takes united healthcare advantage?

I have UHC Medical Advantage and after looking through the provider list, I found the dentists I would have liked to see were part of dental groups I've been to, who recommended thousand of dollars of dental work.

I gave up and went to Dr. Jerkins. Even though I have to pay for his services, I find it's a lot cheaper and I get only the service I need. A regular teeth cleaning twice a year.

If I am wrong, please correct me and provide a dentist that is covered by my plan although I may not switch, as I like Dr. Jerkins.

Do not use smile design. Near Walmart. Bad experience. Office manager very rude. Hygienist near incompetent. I game never had to have a recleaning. Until recently. Did not clean staining around gumm area. When I went back hygenist. Was acted indignant that I was back. Then very rough. Came out sore and bleeding. Billing was also a difficult situation. Stay away.
