Adrift (2018) - Rotten Tomatoes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/adrift_2018/)

Exciting survivor/romance on the high seas true story. It does jump around quite a bit between present and past.

I enjoyed it. I even yelled "ow" out loud. I never do that.

Very good movie. Seem the jumping from present to past constantly is the new norm in a lot of film making. It worked well in Adrift, but in some TV series it can get annoying.

If you liked Adrift, get hold of Dead Calm and watch that. Especially you sailors (or former sailors)... if you like to be scared, that is. Dead Calm Movie Review & Film Summary (1989) | Roger Ebert (https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/dead-calm-1989)

Now THAT sounds like a movie worth watching. Thanks for the recommendation, CFrance.

That movie was quite good. Have seen it a number of times. White Squall is another very good peril at sea movie.

Saw White Squall and I agree, but somehow missed Dead Calm along the way. Adrift looks interesting as well and especially because it's based on a true story. I enjoy a good adventure/thriller type of movie and all seem to fit the bill.

Full disclosure about Dead Calm... a dog gets killed in this movie. It's very hard to get past that. The whole movie haunts me, but we've watched it three times. Former sailors. Have been dead calm in the ocean.

I remember that part. Did not like that at all either. This is Nicole Kidman's first movie with a starring role if I recall correctly and Billy Zane makes a good villain. I follow his career as he is one of a handful of actors and actresses with my 2 24 birthday. Nicole Kidman - Rotten Tomatoes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/nicole_kidman/)

Billy Zane is also one of couple of villains in the movie Titanic. Billy Zane - Rotten Tomatoes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/billy_zane/)
