Quite a bit of critical hype re this film - likening it to The Shining, Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby. It in fact did have those elements. I really wanted to like it due to the promos et al. 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.
First off, Toni Collette (6th Sense, Little Miss Sunshine) is fabulous as is the entire cast. The cinematography is top-notch and very interesting. It IS a long film. I loved the first 4/5 and was SO hoping for a wonderful ending and good story closure and potential twist.
Don't want to ruin it for potential viewers, so I will say -gave it 3/5 stars.

Did good triumph over evil?
I only go see things with happy endings.

hmmm, will not comment on this as it would be a spoiler.
That (not) said, I finally saw 'Tully' before it left TV theaters, and was completely taken with it. Too late to see at theaters now, but IMO certainly worthy to see other ways soon.
The acting was fabulous, the storyline very interesting, held interest thruout, and an ending that GG would like. Must say, I may have blinked at the end and did google when home - and yes...the ending was as I thought. Which capped the entire movie for me. Charlize Theron gained 50lbs for the movie - mostly on snack foods/chips.

I do want to see Tully on Blu-Ray. Looks like one of those movies that will not lose that much if you see it on a smaller screen.

Unless you are a fan of extreme horror films I would skip this one. Saw it with two other people in a very large auditorium.
The acting, writing, special effects, etc., are extremely good BUT....
And I loved the details in it, BUT....
No The Sixth Sense kind of game changer of horror movies. Loved Toni Colette in that one.

Saw it too and very much agree with your assessment.
