I would suspect you'd first need a primary who would refer you. Are you set with someone for your primary care yet? Then go from there. The Villages Specialty Clinic does have surgeons. Dr. Nicole Barossi (sp) is a general surgeon there. Not sure of other's names though. BUT was told she's very good!

If you have a PPO, like Blue Cross, you don't need to see a primary care doctor. Two good general surgeons are Golkar and Tammy Luk.

Dr Farhaad Golkar 352-775-4833 did a laparoscopic hernia repair that I am very satisfied with.

Not only is Dr. Bairossi very good, The Villages Hospital also has the da Vinci surgery system and Dr. Bairossi is skilled at using it. My wife needed a bowel resection and after consultation with our PCP and other doctors, plus attending a da Vinci demonstration away she went. That was over 2 years ago and there have been no complications. The system also has an additional software, which at the time was the only one in the State, that clearly defined the good and bad tissues which made the surgery more precise. I would assume other hospitals have adopted the same capabilities. Can you tell we are a fan of Dr. Bairossi?

Dr. Bundz of Leesburg did my hernia and also major adhesion surgery for my wife. Excellent credentials (Vanderbilt University). Only operates out of Leesburg Hospital and you usually need a referral.
