I decided to take a run along the proposed multi-modal trail from Brownwood to Fenney and return. As I am using my old GoPro 2 camera, the picture quality is not up to today’s standards. I just can’t hold my newer Canon to take movies and fly the Cub at the same time without scaring me and people on the ground. At least it gives you an inkling as to the route and time it will take. Note: I am not passing any cars along the Florida Turnpike!
Turn down the sound as I didn’t do music but only the sound I enjoy hearing as the sound of silence would not be good. Can hardly wait to be able to fly under all the golf cart bridges.

Put a machine gun on the front of that thing......take out some snowbirds while you're up there.

Great job of keeping your cap on. Mine blows off in the golf cart at 19.9999999999999999999 mph unless I wear it backwards.

I'm curious to know your altitude and speed when you recorded the video.
Speed around 65~70 MPH not passing cars on turnpike
check time record on video to speed to estimate golf cart travel times.
Altitude around 1,000 a bit higher than the golf cart bridges.
love to fly and always wear a headset for sound reduction and helps keep the hat on!
However maps sometime do fly out the open door. Thankful for GPS on my cell phone when that happens.

So at 20 MPH, it will take about 12 minutes by golf cart to get to the corner of 468/501? Does that seem about right? That really is not that bad.

If this was not a problem it wouldn’t be discussed. Carts do not travel as crows fly.

That's way optimistic, cart paths do not fly like a crow, they have stop signs, they have to cross entrances to villages, go thru tunnels etc where speed is reduced, try again at average speed of maybe 12-15 mph.

Man, that’s a loooong way in a golf cart. No thanks.

Down to Fenney or up to Lake Sumter by golf cart for me in Lake Deaton should take about the same amount of time. I would suspect that many Village people south of 44 will frequently use golf carts to travel to Brownwood until a new town center is built down south. So, there will be a lot of golf car traffic using the future bridges across 44 and the Florida Turnpike.

I went on a Fenny tour a few months ago and they are saying it is less than 3 miles from Fenny to Brownwood. That must be straight line and I think I smell horse poop.

I hope the horses are staying on their own property and if they're not...someone is shoveling it into bags behind them.

It's 5.9 miles from a home in Fenney to City Fire in Brownwood via 301, doubt the eventual cart path will be less than this.

One day we may be seeing 'hover-carts,' where "as the crow flies"...actually becomes relevant. :D

Having flow over the proposed path, it sure looks to be a lot shorter than using 301! The path as outlined by The Villages goes directly south from Brownwood to a bridge crossing the Florida Turnpike then along the turnpike to the Everglades Rec Center. Looks, feels, seems to me much shorter then using 301.:icon_wink:
As always, it might depend on where you are going in this vast area we call Fenney which is actually Fenney, DeSoto, McClure, Monarch Grove, Linden, Marsh Bend and DeLuna plus some I may have missed.

Another thanks to you! Love seeing these videos. If Harold Schwartz and Gary Morse could come back to life for just one day, wouldn't you love to fly them around the areas of TV's expansion?
