I just know I’ll be abused for this one, but do you have a preference for any frozen pizza at the supermarket? What brand and why?

Palermos Supreme Thin Crust. We put on extra cheese and bake longer. Turns out crispy and tasty 😋

California Kitchens does a pretty good frozen pizza but we much prefer the fresh Neighborhood Walmart take & bake pizza when we're in the mood for a $5 pie.

We like to have a frozen pizza on hand. We always liked Dr. Oesteker (sp?) but they seem to have lost a little in quality over the last couple of years. However, I still like them. We just add a few of our own ingredients.

Not the best. Edible, Much better than flavored cardboard. Great deal. Usually around $5.50 each.

Tombstone, 3 for $10.00 this week at Winn-Dixie. I prefer the 5 cheese.

Red Baron thin crust pepperoni. Put on some extra cheese and bake. Pretty darn good....

Freschetta....love the square one (thin crust), like the round ones (regular crust)nice flavor, not overly spicy sauce, many varieties on toppings.

Sams meats trio, the add onions, pepperoni, peppers, sausage, ham, and more cheese. Had hot pepper flakes, and graded cheese when done. Now you got 10 dollar pizza instead of $5. Or add what topping you like. Use to do this with 5 dollar hot and ready pepperoni.

Best Frozen Pizza: It's Not Delivery. It's DiGiorno Pizza (https://www.digiorno.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIq4Da19Lo2wIVAi1pCh366QaUEAAYASA AEgJesPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)

We like DiGiorno's.

Screamin' Sicilian. Can't say it's the best frozen pizza, but it certainly is our favorite. Bakes up crispy, and you can still taste the sauce, as it doesn't soak into the crust.

This reminds me of our time in Jacksonville. We stayed at a Hotel in an upscale community and noted in the small outside maul a Pizza Store. Went in, bought a very good looking Pizza and waited while it was prepared. They then called our name and we went to the counter to pay and get the pizza. We noted it was not cooked and asked what the reason was. The counter person said they "Did not cook the Pizza but only made it" That was a first!!:ho:

This place sounds similar to Papa Murphy's Take N Bake Pizza. Papa Murphy's has a couple of locations in my hometown of Dubuque, IA which my dad likes to purchase pizza from and then take it home and bake it. The closest Papa Murphy's to The Villages is in Mt. Dora. Actually The Villages might be a good location for a person to open a Papa Murphy's store.

I also like Screaming Sicilian and California Pizza Kitchen frozen pizzas.

We get the plain cheese version of this and put our own green pepper on. It's $5.95 at Walmart.

For thin pizza, we like this one, also $5.95 at Walmart, and we get cheese and again put on our own green pepper.

I've never been to a Papa Murphy's, but a search shows a thread from 2016 that a location was suppose to open in Spanish Springs. Apparently it has never materialized. There was a unit in Ocala that closed in 2016, and a another one in Belleview, but the company's website doesn't list it, and on Yelp there is a scathing review from April that states the owner was very rude and the place was for sale, photo below. Those who live in Belleview might know more.

When we go to Costco, we buy 3 or 4 of their pizza's, cheese, pepperoni, vegetable, what ever they have, take them home and cut in half and freeze them. They are really big so half is plenty. Then when we want pizza, take them out, add peppers and tomatoes, onions, cheese, any other things we want and bake them on a pizza stone.

Not as good as pizza in NY or Boston, but better then most any place around here. The best take out or eat in near the Villages is Big Bob's in Okalawaha.

I have had Papa Murphy's pizza several times while visiting my dad in Iowa. It's pretty good pizza. There was one location not far from me in the N.W. suburbs of Chicago that I patronized a few times, but it only lasted about 2 years, then closed. The closest Papa Murphy's to me now is about 28 miles, too far to drive.

Another frozen pizza that is pretty good, but not quite traditional pizza, is Stouffer's French bread pizza.

I know from reading this thread, I'm now going to have to try Home Run Inn Pizza since it's Chicago style. I had Chicago style today at a restaurant and loved it. Their website has it available at Publix, Winn Dixie and Walgreens, not at Walmart. I know where I'm stopping Monday.

I also vote for Palermos, but Sicilian model. I cut the pepperoni in quarters as to spread it around so every slice gets it's fair share. Then I add extra mozzarella cheese, maybe some chopped green pepper and top with thin slices of tomato. Bellissimo!
Available at Publix. Never pay full price, wait for their 2 for the price of 1.

There is a Papa Murphy's in Belleview. I talked to the owner and she told me that she originally planned to open her store in Spanish Springs but ran into problems leasing a location within The Villages.

If you buy the naan bread from WD or stock up when it's BYGO you are more then halfway there. Get a fancy brand of canned chopped tomatoes and some mozzarella. Put a little olive oil on top, basil and oregano. [i like garlic and anchovies] It cooks quickly.

Thanks to this thread I went to Publix today and brought home a DiGiorno deep dish with pepperoni. My wife and I both agree that it’s the best pizza we’ve had since we moved here. A bit pricey at 9 bucks but well worth it for the taste.

I too like the DiGiorno deep dish but recently had an Outsiders Detroit style pan pizza and it was so good you would never know it was a frozen pizza.

P.S. Someone brought us beautiful flowers and they are THRIVING in a pot on the front porch.

I agree with several previous posters if it has to be frozen then: Home Run and/or Screamin' Sicilians. I consider both of these to be the cream of the crap.

Hi Chat,

I think you may have confused this thread with another since the

Title of the Thread is "Frozen Pizza" and OP's initial message is:

I just know I’ll be abused for this one, but do you have a preference for any frozen pizza at the supermarket? What brand and why?

We have always gotten Frechetti's or Digornio's, depends on what was on sale. I like the Brick Oven version the best. But last time I went to an Aldi's, they had fresh, not frozen pizza's that you can take home to cook. Those are even better.

I realize this is an older thread but I want to ad that we tried the frozen pizza brand "Screamin'Sicilian".
It was the plain cheese and before we cooked it added our own pepperoni. For frozen pizza, it was pretty darn good.

I had recommended California Kitchen and DiGiornio's on this thread earlier. However, after I had a pizza at the Great Chicago Brewery in Leesburg and loved it, I decided to try the Home Run brand of frozen Chicago style pizza. Those who recommended Home Run were right, it's a very good Chicago style pizza. The only negative is it's not available at Walmart, only Publix and Winn Dixie where's it's $8.99.

There's a new frozen pizza brand sold at Winn Dixie called Drafthaus. It was on sale last week. We picked one up and tried it last night. Lots of cheese and fresh tasting ingredients. One of the best frozen pies we've had.

I remembered your post when I was in Winn Dixie a week or so ago. I found a few Pep's Drafthaus pizzas and bought the 5 Meat Mash version. Thanks. I don't eat a lot of frozen pizza, but this was the best I've ever had.
