Anyone know why the boat line has been shut down "until further notice"?

Call the Coast Guard-most likely a safety violation

I swear no one told me ahead of time, that it was against the rules to bring my pack rod...and do a little live-bait trolling during the tour.

They are replacing it with a paddle boat called the Sumter Queen.

I believe their last cruise was plagued by Legionnaire's Disease. Additionally, they lost power and the toilets could not be flushed, air conditioning was inop, and there was no ice, therefore no Margaritas or Daquiris.

They are going to be dredging Lake Sumter to allow for the larger cruise ships. It will bring more tourists to the area.

Stewards from the cruise lines will be going to the squares in advance of passenger debarking...and saving seats. :D

For the first time in many years the Villages will have a community fireworks display on the 4th of July. Technicians are prepping the boat to launch fireworks from the middle of Lake Sumter! :coolsmiley:

They cancelled it because someone peed in Lake Sumter.

There is no pee in Lake Sumter.

We like it that way.

Rumors floating around now.

Captain Stubing is on vacation.
Gilligan misplaced the windup key.
The semaphore broke. (A Morse joke.)

If everyone gets their little hearts desire than the charges will go up. That is the bottom line.

I like it the way it is.

To get back on topic. From another news source:

The inspection of a walkway prompted Friday’s abrupt shut down of the Lake Sumter Line.
Damage to a walkway prompted the shutdown of the Lake Sumter Line. Yellow tape urges caution.

A report was received Friday that there was a problem with the walkway which leads to the dock, said Assistant District Manager Richard Baier. To ensure safety, the walkway was roped off due to an issue with a support stringer.

Repairs are expected to take place Tuesday.

The popular boat line offers 20-minute tours during which the ships’ first mates talk about the legends of Lake Sumter.

All the posts discussing fireworks on the 4th of July have been moved to the poll about fireworks in TV. They have not been deleted. Please keep this thread on the topic of the temporary closure of the Lake Sumter cruises.
