Not many carts out there today but we saw one travelling east on 466 and turning north on Buena Vista. 466 is 45 MPH, no carts allowed!

I have noticed more "incidents" this year with golf carts and cars then last year. I guess with the start of the snowbird season there are many inexperienced TV drivers. Be careful everyone.

Way back when, you could usually tell if it was a newbie because most rental carts were numbered, white Yamahas travelling at 15 MPH. No more. There are any number of renters including their golf carts as well as rental companies renting any number of brands and colors.
Do like annie suggests, be careful.

I'm wondering if the Private Cart Rental industry will nosedive when there is a major lawsuit as the result of a bad accident and then the insurance company finds out that the cart was being used as a rental rather than for private use. I'll bet there is very little "rental car liability out there." I suspect those private carts are being rented with only home owners liability. Rental insurance is very very expensive, and almost puts the big companies out of business.

Interesting comment.
Were I to rent a cart under any circumstances I would want a lot of questions answered.

The other part of this problem is the big push on "street legal" golf carts. People buy the carts to get the tax breaks. Some don't understand that "street legal" does not mean all streets - only certain streets. CR 466 is NOT one of those certain streets.

I think when you buy a LSV golf cart you are smart enough to ask questions like where can I drive and where can't I drive this golf cart, but this is only me. :duck:

I must admit the following:
Our oldest son came to visit while we lived in Polo Ridge. He had taken a number of 35MM photos and wanted to have them developed. We gave him directions to CVS on 466. He took our golf cart. Told him to go out the Southern Trace gate, turn right at the first street, go to the cart path, turn right under the tunnel to CVS. Well the first street to him was 466. When he came back he said the trip to CVS was fine because there were three lanes. On his return trip he said all the 18 wheelers were blowing there horn at him especially when he made a left turn from 466 onto Southern Trace. We now know to give good better instructions. (We had a good laugh once he was safe.)

If you look at lawyers ads in the Villages yellow pages, they all seem to specialize in litigation involving golf cart accidents. :22yikes: We all need to be very careful to drive defensively.
