A Friend just bought one and is going back for another for his wife who is getting her carry permit. Said he was pleased with the price.

Their prices stink compared to Bud's and Palmetto State Armory--both on line--if you act fast before the out of state sales tax kicks in you can save real $$, especially the you want a high $$ firearm

Friend was very happy I saw the sales slip $500 gun for $340 and he walked out with the gun. I’d say that’s a good deal.

Apparently nobody from TOTV went there today.
And of all that did go none participate in TOTV.
How is that possible?

Would they sell gun cleaning kits there? I need one for a .22 rifle. Has not been fired since 1982. Has been cleaned though but could use a more recent cleaning than the last one it got.
Have to go into Leesburg to get a 22. cleaning kit.

Not at the temporary welcome center on W. Torch Lake Drive. They will at their range on CR44A, due to open December 1st.

I'll go there every 6months to see if my auto-loaders function and if I can shoot 1.5" groups--no reason for a membership-for me--the Admiral is waiting for a female only ccw class and practice. Don't enjoy punching holes in paper

Why do you say that? Because the rifle is older or because the poster hasn’t shot lately?

I’ve shot at their Tampa location. They never checked the ammo I brought in which included reloads. I think it’s a policy that isn’t strictly enforced.
Many benchrest rifle shooters use their own ammo. I suppose if you bring it in with a factory box, instead of those plastic ammo boxes, no one will raise a question

When shooting bench rest (NBRSA) we always reloaded right there on the range for each new group.
I have no factory boxes and many hundreds of reloads, .44mag and .45 acp.
I'll just use the range for some factory 9mm and .380 practice now and then, but won't spend the money to get a membership.

I can't imagine shooting 10 times a year at paper targets--trap skeet and sporting clays -10000 targets a year,minimum-thats shooting

Ocala Forest Shooting Range
I've been there once. There is no marshall or any supervision at all. There is a range for rifles and pistols and one for shotguns. They have a covered roof, concrete floor, firing stands and loading benches and looks like most professional ranges but only about 10 stations. I think we had to wait a few minutes for someone to leave. Then the two of us shared a stand. The range goes to at least 100 yards.
For the most part, the day I went everything went smooth. You should take a 2x4 about 5' long for mounting your targets. I didn't take one and used one already there, but it was pretty beat up. They have cans cemented into the ground that you stick you 2x4 into, and then you staple your targets, don't forget a good stapler and targets.
Why people say take a friend is because when you go down range, you need someone to watch your guns. Also, you need to make sure everyone is behind the line when others are down range. When it's time to go down range, make sure you say it so everyone can hear and everyone has laid down their guns and stepped behind the line. Follow these simple rules and take a friend, the bigger the better, then you'll be alright. I haven't been back because I don't have a shooting partner and it's a long way away, I've taken the back way around Lake Weir but its a very circuitous route.
