I'm surprised the culinary critics weren't all over the July 6 Daily Sun article about the restaurant that many "love to hate."

Guy Fieri's is now offering:

Sunday brunch
Lower prices on favorite meals
New daily lunch specials
New menu items
Lower drink prices

Triple D has been going so long he is now revisiting restaurants he already went to haha! I feel like with his restaurant closings in California that Guy's shelf life might be getting a bit stale. I mean when you have Dennis Miller on how could you go any higher.

There is one of his restaurants at the Cozumel Airport. Made the prices at the villages one look like Mickey D's. Never been in either and don't plan to.

Just trying to keep their head above water till the lease runs out then they'll bail--

Most people are trying to succeed at business. I haven't been to Guy Fieri's, so I can't comment on their food. It is good to see that they realize what the local population is looking to spend on food in restaurants and have adjusted their prices. As always the market drives the prices.

Against my previous poor experiences, I decided to give another try to a restaurant with a famous chef's name attached...with the commiserate inflated prices.

I should have known better and can't see how Fieri's...will last another 18 months.

“Guys Burgers” on Carnival is awesome! So we expected the same here.
We have been to “Guy’s” here twice and it’s terrible. The menu is very unimaginative and the place was empty with lousy service.
Their days are numbered.

We really wanted to like Guy's restaurant, but each time we went the employees managed to mess it up. Went with five of us during Easter break. One couple waiting in front of us. The young inexperienced hostess gave the two a hugh table for 6. We were told it was 20 min wait, even though there were several big tables empty. They told us they were reserved. Why did she give a couple a hugh table when there were several smaller available. Poor people skills. Very little attention if you sit at the bar unless you are one of the 2 or 3 regulars. Yes, I did speak to the manager about the situation the next day and he apologized and said they are working on the problems. No improvement seen on a recent return visit. Goodbye Guy.

Look at their website--,very few satisfied reviews--major problems-wait time, food prep and the big one is lack of quality staff--the perfect storm for a restaurant to fail

Perhaps the lower prices will be a temporary boost for them, but nothing is going to improve their poor service and sub-standard food except new management and staff. I was happy to hear the poor excuse for a manager had been replaced. He richly deserved a swift firing based on our experiences there.

Is Culver’s effecting their business :duck: S&S has always had coupons. Anytime you see free food, there is a reason behind it, new business, new management, or new place just opened up down the street, and need to bring in new business. Since I won’t eat in a S&S, I can’t tell you why they have resorted to Groupon

Is it possible that the constant barrage of negativity influences other restaurants from moving into the empty spots in Brownwood??

Guys wasn’t phenomenal but we enjoyed our meal an we’re taken care of properly. We will go back.

The constant bombing of most restaurants make it look like people are trying to be steered to a restaurant that the bomber has a financial interest in and away from a laundry list of places. Who knows? It is a bit much when it is constant.

Being a food critic is a great hobby but people invest their lives savings into getting these places going. I’m sure they are trying to please.

LOL

I'm personally finding it quite humorous, that anyone would think that a restaurant is experiencing a downturn and/or upturn simply because of a few negative/positive comments from the minuscule number of total residents in TV...who are active posters on TOTV.

Instead of the restaurants own actions and product quality...whether they be good or bad.

And as to some conspiracy, that those posting their own negative experiences because of some financial incentive at another establishment...I find downright hilarious. :1rotfl:

Time to cue the 'X-Files' music. :D

While I do love that show, the conspiracy theories espoused around here sometimes...gives it a good run for its money.

Went there tonight had about 30 with us. New Bar prices were great I think the best in TV. We missed the new lunch menu a few had wings and other items no real complaints. They are offering a veterans discount everyday. There were quite a few people eating in the main restaurant area. Hope they can pull it together as it’s a great location. Time will tell. Oh yea this might help to 10% discount IF you a veteran. Very Cold Draft beer $1.75 , mixed drinks very reasonable.

No problem. Give a reason for a constant volley of criticism on virtually every establishment. I don’t see the humor in attacking local businesses constantly and dovetailing the attack with comments about empty storefronts. Possible related? The amount of posters or who it is doesn’t matter to me. Everyplace can’t be horrible.

Never saw any television show with this plot. Just seems to make sense to more people than just me.

You're right and out of the 1000 maybe 25 don't like any of the restaurants so why keep whining about it? Central Florida is not known to be a Mecca for fine dining and 5 star restaurants are never going to be drawn here for senior discounts.

But with the average median income here, we keep those excellent restaurants just outside the bubble very busy. Sadly most established eating facilities seem to think old retired people have lost their palette for good food, and their ability to pay. As long as no one cares about quality of dining here, it will never improve. Our lifestyle didn’t change just because we turned 60, it actually improved because we have more time to enjoy it.

The majority of Villagers want inexpensive meals and 2 for one happy hour. I sincerely doubt that any fine dining establishment could profit here and continually slamming the restaurants that are already here which many people like is not going to change this. I don't believe it is the people from TV that are keeping the excellent restaurants just outside the bubble profitable.

In spite of a lot of people's burning desire and fervent wishes, we can't control other people...or their opinions/viewpoints.

We're all allowed (within the site rules of course), to express our own views/opinions and also the ability to agree/disagree with them, or at least until such time (horror forbid)...we end up like a Russia/China/North Korea/Etc.

My turn to whine.

I haven't gone there. I just looked at the photos. They kept the stools. The one and only time I went to the previous establishment I asked for a table. I don't have a problem hopping to a bar or a stool to a high table but not everyone in my group can and it's awkward. There is a breakfast place in the strip mall with WD in Wildwood. I only went there once and it was packed. They had normal height chairs at the counter. I thought that was brilliant to encourage singles to eat at the counter.

Putting the patron's need first is smart. I wish they could install some appropriate panels to absorb the sound. I don't need to look at old junk tools hanging on a wall when I got the same old junk tools hanging on my garage wall that I still use. [that's a bit of hyperbole]

I think there are a few major factors keeping restaurants from investing. The rent is ridiculous and they also give a percentage of the gross to the “landlord” which is unconscionable. I’ve never heard of this before.

Finally went with friends that wanted to go. We eat later than most in TVG so it was not real crowded. Service was good, food was more than enough to eat and flavorful. Pricing was fine. No complaints with anything generally. Our expectation was that we would see some of the food from his tv show, an assumption on our part. Nothing bad just not our preferences for future nites out.

Just met a couple who went to Guy's for lunch-nothing good to say about the place, food & service wise--their bill came to $35.00/ but it only cost them $10.00 since they had a $25.00 coupon--they said they will not be returning

We tried Guy's earlier this week for an early dinner after a doctor's appointment around the corner. It was just about 5:00PM, and when we walked in, the place seemed empty. Probably five tables were in use, and since it's a pretty large dining room, it seemed deserted. Not impressed with the ambiance at all. Bare tables (not really clean - crumbs were apparent), and warehouse like ceilings, but the service was good. The draft beer was very cold and fresh and was only $1.75 for a pint. We both had the meatloaf with mac and cheese, and the meal was just OK. Once I scraped off the gravy and replaced it with ketchup, the meatloaf was OK. The mac and cheese was pretty good. Will we return? Probably not. Frankly I'd rather go to Cody's. Cheaper and better.

If you owned the business and read 10 bad reviews I’m not sure what you would do but I would stop the bleeding by getting to the bottom of the problem. I wouldn’t want ANYTHING NEGATIVE posted about my business.

So much time has passed that it may not be able to be turned around in this case.

If a restaurant opened in most towns there is no TOTV’S to spread the word be it positive or negative. If I was considering opening a restaurant and saw the posts on here that burn a business because a meal wasn’t perfect I would have a second thought about opening in The Villages and move on down the road. Maybe the reason or contributing reason for empty storefronts.

In reality it doesn’t matter to me. Where we are in The Villages the Storefronts are full, the restaurants plentiful and I’m grateful to live here. Smashing others business’ doesn’t appeal to me.

How do the restaurant reviews, both negative and positive on TOTV, differ from the Yelp or TripAdvisor reviews on the Net? To be successful, a restaurant needs to be aware and respond to their deficiencies accordingly. Many of the issues raised stem from a lack of training, and possibly a lack of motivation on the part of the staff. Training is the easier issue. Motivation is tough!

It's all about the staff. Hard to find/keep good staff in this part of Florida. That is the issue in all the business in this area, Full employment. Just saying.

Well, you got your wish, they have gone out of business. I have to wonder if there is some kind of problem with the location. It seems that there have been four restaurants in that building since I've lived here and they all failed.

As far a Guy Fieri goes, he's more of a television personality and businessman than a chef. Just because he puts his name on something doesn't mean it's going to be good.

Carnival cruise ships offer Guy's burgers. They tasted so much better on the ship than at the TV restaurant, where they came to us with the buns burnt and cold fries.

Maybe because they came free with the ships fare? but they were still very tasty...... we had them every day.
