It isn't the first time that a country club south of 466A has been robbed in the middle of the night. Last time it was employees, too.

Just came North on Morse from 44 and when I got the Moyer Loop roundabout here comes The Villages Trolley Tour. I can only imagine the narrative..."On the left is our Belle Glade Country Club...Isn't it beautiful? Don't mind all the police presence. It was robbed last night, but we don't like to talk about that". "And on the right is the Village of LaBelle where the suspect is barred in a home. Again, not an everyday occurrence." Now straight ahead...look at all the beautiful landscaping...." :)

Caught him in a cow pasture, after the swat team used a battering ram to crash out the front window of the home in North Labelle (That had a butterfly motif on the driveway). He ran for a white SUV for which he apparently had keys and took off with a bunch of officers chasing him. Took at least three officers to pull him out of the car. Said he didn't want to go back to jail.

Now that is quite amusing.
Looks like they probably got the man who caused all this after quite a OJ Simpson like chase across fields with various helicopters hovering. You see shadows of media and perhaps law enforcement helicopters. WESH had quite a lot of coverage it seemed.

How did he get from the house to the SUV? I thought SWAT was there and everything was blocked off. Something doesn't add up to me. Maybe it is simple but I seem to be missing something. I do have to say I liked the takedown at the end, they weren't playing and they sent out a cheaper car to turn around the bad guy.

Well that was a bit of excitement! What a waste....not wanting to go back to jail? How's that working for him now?? Pretty exciting police-chase that ends up not so good for the perp.
Then to the news update (or whatever it's called) and the stupid questions they asked. Two asked the same question (didn't you learn to listen folks?) PLUS the officer isn't going to offer up the details you're fishing for as they will let you know, as needed.

According to Florida Department of Corrections records, Davis was sentenced in 2011 to one year in jail for grand theft, burglary and driving with a suspended license. He was arrested in 2016 for allegedly violating his probation and a moving traffic violation, and last year on battery and disorderly intoxication charges, records show.

Addiction is a horrible thing for anyone. This guy has struggled with it for awhile it seems AND it's affected his life and those around him in horrific ways. NOT saying it excuses him in any sense as it doesn't. Wish he'd find the help he truly needs to address his demons.

I think that a convicted felon should be allowed to work, but not as a waiter in a restaurant dealing with the public. Apparently, this is just fine with the owners of our country clubs. This policy should be changed. Or, they should at least notify customers that they hire convicted felons as waiters. I am typically a skeptic, but I had no idea that restaurants in The Villages didn't check the criminal records of their employees or screen them.

So, why do millions of employers do background checks on job applicants? The Villages doesn't even hire people who test positive for drugs. Are you saying that the country clubs should just hire anyone who shows up? This guy has more than 20 felony convictions.

Phyllis happened to be flipping thru channels yesterday about 5pm - she yelled "get over here!" (first thought...what did I do NOW?) But on TV was they perp talking to a reporter with camera thru glass apparently at jail. His face was scratched and she asked him some questions - he said something like he didn't mean "no harm", and some other self-serving quick answers. Apparently he did not answer any pointed questions re his violence etc etc.
My question - What ever happened to the ONE PHONE CALL stuff??? Is this yet another 'criminal rights' crap? He could have killed a citizen during the chase let alone the assault on the BG manager. We all pay for the police et al during his standoff, damage - and now (hopefully) 10-20 years of prison.
Sure innocent till proven guilty, but c'mon...

The article simply stated facts without innuendos.
Mostly, I feel for the neighbors who deserve "quiet enjoyment" of their premises. I wonder if they realized an "underage" married-with-a-boyfriend-having-a-criminal-history, hard (heroin using?) druggie with a criminal history herself, was living in her parent's home in their retirement community, stashing her drug paraphernalia in the bedroom?
