Issue a friend is having is that there brand new patio villa has a small 1.5 driveway. They also made matters worse and went out and bought a new golf cart :gc:. So it has become necessary for them to park way over in there driveway to allow for the golf cart to enter and exit the garage.

Problem...... neighbor across the street has a care giver that parks on the opposite side of the road 9-5 everyday. Totally blocks, on the opposite side of the road, the new homeowners driveway. To add to the issue the new homeowner drives a dodge ram 1500 crew cab long bed.....huge sucker.....and has found it impossible to get in and out of their own driveway without playing in and out and wiggle manuvers, many times.....
what should I suggest to them to do????

First talk to the care giver, not the owner. Our first home was a PV with a 3 row seating suv. We had no problem getting the golf car out while car was in the garage, and the car was just as easy.
I am surprised that the 1500 cab fits in either the driveway or the garage. Sometimes when you’re buying a home here you need to realize what you bring from up north or other parts may not fit when you downsize in T V. Hence the reason why we’ve moved three times gone from 1 1/2 car garage to a two car garage to a two car plus golf cart garage.

The truck would never fit in the garage.......but it does squeeze into the driveway. when the road is not blocked, it slides in eezy peezy, but when theres a SUV parked in the road directly across from the driveway.....very difficult manuvers.....time consuming, and a huge hassel.

Sell the big truck and get a smaller one (or or sell the small house and get a bigger one). :D :D

Or, you COULD ask the caregiver if she would do you a FAVOR and park 1 house down since there is no law being broken .

It’s the story every neighborhood sees, new homeowners comes from a 2000sf house and big garage, move to PV and things get a little tight. When we bought our PV for vaca home we made sure no homes were across from us.

Look at it this way one day it may be their caregiver and they will have no where to park except in the road. I am sure the caregiver will understand, That they have caused such a huge hassle, time consuming maneuvers, for them.

Unless they are really young and have the attitude of “I can get your truck out in one move” :girlneener:

Oh please...even in the villas you can back up. Problem is that many here have a problem going in reverse.

Check your villa's covenants. Parking in the street may be prohibited. Also, check on the size of the truck as far as whether it is too large for the covenants. I believe in some areas the vehicle must be able to fit into the garage.

First talk to the care giver, not the owner. As a first step, why not suggest to your friends that they talk directly to the care giver?
He/she probably wouldn't mind parking one house away.

Not problem, just park you're vehicle across from you're driveway so the care giver has to move down the street.

Trucks up to 3/4 ton are allowed to park anywhere. Only 1 ton (3500s) or more and dually's are not allowed.

I think the rule is that you are not allowed to park on the street if you are the homeowner. But, visitors are allowed to park on the street.

Advise your friends to get rid of the big truck.

Not neccesarily. Villa deed restrictions are different.

Really? Park a giant truck in front of your neighbor's house so that you can avoid a conversation? C'mon.

Really? Park a normal size truck in front of your neighbor's house so that you can avoid a conversation? C'mon.

You are correct:bigbow:. Owner vehicle must be parked and fit in the drive way! Which IMO rarely enforced?

Actually IMO of the restrictions only maintenance vehicles can be parked on the street in these narrow CYV and PV streets. The 8 hour day hired help should be in the drive way or over flow lot IMO of the restrictions of villas which only covers Sumter and lake counties, I couldn't find Marion county restrictions?
