We are considering renting our house for some of the months that we are not using the house. There are some things we do not want to have in the house when rented. Personal keep sakes, some personal files, tools, maybe some furniture and clothing.
I could put them in the attic over the garage but I think that would be too hot. What do you think about storing in the attic?
The other option is to rent a storage unit. Would it be ok if it was not climate controlled? We need a really small space. Maybe the size of a large closet. Any idea how much that would cost and who would be a good company?

We rent our home and have a locked garage cabinet as well as a locked "owners closet" off the master bedroom. Because we have a large home there is still lots of closet space for guests.

Also, have faith in your guests. We have found (as expected), that Villages renters are as kind and gentle to our things as we are.

We have rented in the past. One house had locking doors installed in the guest bedroom closet. One had a lot of personal items on shelves in the garage. They all most likley used the attic. I guess they figure the people who rent are retired couples or soon to be retired.
