This is a great show at the Studio Theater at Tierra Del Sol! The music is nostalgic and woven throughout the story of a group trying to break into entertainment by winning a radio contest. Unchained melody, Runaround Sue, Earth Angel, many others and of course...Life Could Be a Dream! For $40 bucks its a great night out. The cast is very talented and the setting is small and intimate (99 seats). We got in line at 7:20 for the 8 o'clock show and had our pick of many excellent seats. Well worth the $$!

We absolutely love the TDS Studio Theatre venue. One of the best shows we have had the pleasure of attending was a great comedy, "Bad Jews"', which we left talking about how we would be back often for more shows. However, we are very disappointed with the way the event schedule has recently trended. We very much prefer to laugh during comedy's, but all the new shows are musicals. The last two shows we attended were not so good to say the least. During the last show we attended, we could not wait for intermission, so that we could end the boredom and go home. Not what we were hoping for! Here is hoping they bring back good old comedies and bag the musical theme.

I remember many years ago going to a local Amature Dramatics production in support of one of my wifes friends who was appearing in it.
It was dire, and we to could not wait for the intermission to get out, along with well over half the audience!
My wife confessed to her friend what we had done the next day, and she laughed and said, "you should have stayed, it really livened up in the second half, when all the scenery collapsed, and they finised the show sitting and singing on the debris."

Must agree with the OP, we were season subscribers for the first two seasons;however, we have not renewed this year--if they bring back real drama- and not light hearted fluff- we will be back==in the past they had a packed house

if we wanted musicals we could always go to the Sharon or Savannah--

$40.00/ wasted is still $40.00 wasted- why people pay $$$ to see over the hill entertainers who were not members of the original groups with canned musics is beyond me

The band with one original member who has no voice are a waste of money. We enjoy the Sharon that does have good entertainment. Especially shows the had been on Broadway, current singers and love the illusionists.

These bands are not always bad. We very much enjoyed both the Beach Boys and ELO, the Guess Who on the other hand was not so good.

Assuming you are referring to Tiera del Sol (or however you spell it) just because YOU don't like a $40 ticket for a "show with music" doesn't preclude others from having an enjoyable evening.

You are right on one point though, to spend $100+++ for tickets at Sharon or wherever to see an "original group" that is far from "original" is IMO is a waste of money which is why I'd prefer to spend $40 for an enjoyable evening out than $100+++. I'd prefer to listen to the original on Spotify and hold their picture up so I can see them. :D

We spent a lot of $$ for a Lady Gaga concert in Raleigh--she swears she will never used canned music and she works hard for the $$==the last music show/ concert we attended it was 2010-we used to go to Broadway shows monthly--guess we're spoiled

I remember that show. My daughter and her roommate at NC State went to it. If I remember correctly, the highest priced tickets were about $175. They didn't get those, but I think they did spend about $100.

The Sharon has many shows where they charge more that that but that is what you get to pay when you have a seating capacity of 2000 compared to 20000 +

To help clear things up, the is just a summer series produced by Fernando Varela and Victory Productions. These shows are not connected to the seasons that the Studio has produced that many of you said you enjoyed.

Trivial Fact check! :D Sharon Morse seats 996-1022 depending on orchestra configuration.

There is a very interesting 1hr 20+ minute "virtual tour" on this site as well as photos for "seat view" for most areas. The Sharon | Seating at The Villages Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center (http://www.thesharon.com/technical.php)

Sorry I was responding to all of the folks who said they were not enjoying the musicals being staged this summer. I was just pointing out that the summer is different from the regular Studio seasons.
