View Full Version : Why is The Villages a "paradise."

Many many times, the word "paradise" is used to describe The Villages. One encyclopedia defines "paradise" as; "a counter-image of the miseries of human civilization, and in paradise there is only peace, prosperity, and happiness."
Why is The Villages a "paradise" to you?

Your definition pretty much sums it up as far as I'm concerned.

If you think The Villages is paradise, you really are dilusional. No where on earth is paradise. Is it a nice place to live for some - certainly it is.
I have seen many comments from posters saying TV is paradise. But be assured, it is not.

Paradise is a word that expresses a land of milk and honey and no problems, a place where everything is perfect and beautiful and everyone is kind and pleasant.
The Villages is not Paradise. I had a root canal there. Other than that it pretty much fits the criteria.

Everybody has an opinion... apparently that is yours! Why did you ask the question in the 1st place if you don't want to hear the answers?

I believe Talk Host served up the question initially...

The Villages is a state of mind in my humble opinion. Whether I think it is paradise or not is of little matter to anyone but me. My reason (s) for living and liking it here may matter so let me state in my eight plus years I have lived here I have yet to have one regret. My wife and I frequently comment on how lucky we were to "discover" The Villages.
We would like to be closer to our families but they reside from Boston to San Francisco. In order to be closest to all of them we would have to move to Kansas. I have lived in Kansas and have happy memories of of my time there.but prefer The Villages at this point in our lives.

You know? My original question was designed to determine what individual things our members like so much that they consider it to be a paradise. It is intended to be an upbeat discussion of a remarkable place.
It has become very complicated and that was not what I was hoping for.
JK
Though TV may not be "The, Paradise." It certainly is "A" paradise.

Hello Ooper: I don't recall or see any question here. Read again. Then comment if you feel the same.

Yoda is right. Talkhost, if you have been reading these threads for as long as I, you know that you are going to get everything in response from the overthinkers to the clueless...and that's what makes this website fun. Don't take it too seriously.

I think TH has been reading these posts for some time. Check out the following:

Maybe "Paradise" is stretching it a bit, but it sure is a great place to live. It's beautiful, it's clean, there's lots to do, the air is clean (coming from CA, I appreciate that.. ;) ), there's a great fire and rescue department, lots of places to shop, the weather is pretty good most of the time, there are many things to see and do close to our community, to name just a few things. When grandkids visit, there's time to enjoy their company. Kids love it here, our children as well as our grandchildren.
We live among our peers, who understand some of the little "difficulties" we all experience as we age, people who have had many experiences in life, people who are willing to help their fellow man. Oh there are some who are "grouchy" but for the most part, everyone is friendly and helpful. Try stopping your golf cart and take out a map...lots of people will stop to help get you on your way to where you want to go.... :)
It might not be paradise, but I enjoy it here.
It was a simple question. When you think about it, you'll have your answer...one doesn't just move to another locale without reason. Since most on TOTV live here, will or want to, there have to be many positives.

I can't wait to live in TV full time! It's love, friendships, great neighbors, dancing in the streets, things to do, places to go, totv'ing, laughter-loving, lifelong-learning, neighbor-helping-neighbor, warm and welcoming.
It might not be paradise, but it's everything I'm looking forward to in my retirement!

Just wondering.
