We don't expect people to search the archives for every topic before they post. Just because something has been discussed before, that doesn't mean that it can't be discussed again. The board would be boring, if each topic could be discussed only once. The whole purpose of Talk of The Villages to have live discussions. It's isn't a "read only" board.

I think it is very discouraging for a brand new member to be told that they made a mistake posting a topic.

They may have a new twist to the topic, or there may be new information. It can be discussed again and again.

I hope that Virginiapickleballer won't be discouraged about posting here. Please feel free to start conversations any time you wish.

Good morning, Virginiapickleballer,

You have absolutely no reason to feel bad for asking a question.

I just searched your topic and had planned to deliver some of the old threads to you by linking them into this thread, but I found more than one, and was not sure where to begin and end with the links.

So anyway, here is what worked.....

Click on Search above.

Type "Closed Captioning" into the box and click on Go. It will search the threads and you can switch it to search posts, too.

The search will also pick up some things that you do not want. I guess because it is picking up keywords.

I realize that maybe those directions were not necessary because you probably already know how to search, but I put them here anyway, just in case.

I also want to say that sometimes the search engine here does not work for me. But I am not exactly computer literate. And so when I try to help somebody with computer stuff, I help them as if that person were me. (Does that make sense?)

I think you will find some interesting threads here on this topic.

And welcome.

(We were all newbies once.)

Boomer

and DON'T SEARCH BEFORE YOU POST. Nobody else does, ever!
