Brings back the fear I felt last year when Irma was heading directly for us.
I hope that this event will not be as bad as it looks right now. I know many Villagers once lived there.

Yes, and it’s not as easy to leave Hawaii as it was for most in The Villages.

I have met a few Villagers that lived in Hawaii. That was one of my Dad's choices when he was being transferred and promoted in 1970 from Milwaukee, WI. Reno, Nevada or Honolulu. Since he was in an ARMY M.A.S.H. Unit headed to Korea in 1953 he did not want Hawaii as he had been stationed there for a while before they shipped him to Korea after the peace agreement.
I still have not got to Hawaii. My Dad used to cover the insurance claims for massive catastrophes for a major insurance carrier, so he got to Hawaii whenever nature forced him to manage a lot of claim adjusters. Florida too with Hurricane Andrew. Hurricane Iniki - Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Iniki)
My older brother and sister-in-law were in Hawaii when Hurricane Iniki Hurricane Lane revives memories of 1992's Hurricane Iniki, the last hurricane to hit Hawaii - CBS News (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hurricane-lane-revives-memories-of-1992s-hurricane-iniki-the-last-hurricane-to-hit-hawaii/) was heading there and then my Dad went there to work on the insurance claims and brought my Mom along for company.
