Just diagnosed with breast cancer. I am not familiar with healthcare in The Villages. How is Florida Cancer Specialists? Or, should I see someone at Moffitt or UF Gainesville? Has anyone had any experience at any of these places. Still waiting for a last result but probably am a triple negative. Any other survivors of this? Thanks for your help.
Just recently diagnosed with breast cancer and am not familiar with healthcare around The Villages. Does anyone have experience with Florida Cancer Specialists? Or is it better to go with Moffitt or Gainesville. Thanks for your help.

Personally, anything serious I would NOT have taken care of in The Villages. Go to Moffitt or Shands. Wishing you the best.

I would choose Moffitt or Shands. We have eleven survivors of breast cancer in our family including me and our daughter.
Knowing how scary the diagnosis is and wishing I could fast forward you to your looking back on this.
Sending good positive thoughts and anytime you want to stop by a hug and a cup of coffee is waiting at our house.

Dr Lisa Spiguel, MD, breast cancer surgeon at Shands Cancer Center. 352-594-1805, some numbers have changed, but they will get you to the right office. Have been a patient for 2 years. she is exceptional. For further recommendation, when I was there last week, I met a woman who drives 4 hours to get to her office. This woman told me that her son is a physician in washington state and when this patient was diagnosed, the son researched breast cancer specialists and found Dr Spiguel to be the highest rated. Good luck with your treatment, prayers for a speedy recovery.

So sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Will pray for good results for you.
I used Dr Tummala, who is now a member of FL Cancer Specialty, but I use his Leesburg office and see his PA Susan, who is incredible. Dr. Tummala was very helpful to me upon hearing the diagnosis and recommended a wonderful surgeon at Waterman hospital, Dr Mascaranas, who was wonderful. I feel I received excellent care by all. Good luck.

The diagnosis hit me like a brick. I was healthy...mammogram every year for decades. Four years ago I got the dx...Halloween day.
I chose Moffitt in Tampa because it’s a teaching hospital, a cancer hospital, and they deal with this every day. It was recommended by a girlfriend here in TV who was very pleased with her care.
I was there for consultation first week of November and chose to wait until early January for my lumpectomy, and I was assured that this was ok. I did the radiation here at The Boissoneault center off Bella Cruz, also with no regrets. That was an excellent choice too.
Now almost four years later, I have other girlfriends who have done the same treatment as I have, and we continue to support each other.
I can share more if you like. Let me know.
Do not linger. Get treatment as quickly as you can.
