Went there Friday night and was sorry to see Brusters on 42 closed. Always people in line and a good product. Wonder who got the left over ice cream?

The owners are TOTV members. Not sure what happened.

The owners used to be TOTV members at one time. Not sure what happened.
He was last on TOTV on the 24th of January, 2010 and has posts from January '10 and December '09.

So sorry to hear that JohnZ and Patty had to close Brusters. They are such a lovely couple and were so much fun in the early days of TOTV. I do hope they keep in touch with us. John came into chat one night a while ago, and it was the same old fun as it used to be.
Good luck to you guys, I hope your next venture will be a great success, you earned it.

Ice Cream sales has a very slim profit margin, so a store must sell lots of it to be profitable. The only way that can happen is if the store is located in a "VERY HIGH" foot traffic area.
It is my understanding that at the time Bruster's was considering the location on route 42, they were given to believe that all those out parcels would be occupied by other businesses, including restaurants. As you can see six years later, there is a gas station and Bruster's. Not a winning formula.

Here's hoping the opening of the VA Clinic in August will help them out. Nice people and great ice cream!!!

I guess we need a definition of what "closed" means!

Folks, we closed Bruster's temporarily for the winter months. It is our slowest time of year and given the economic climate we decided it was best to close for a couple of months. It was a tough decision. We plan to reopen March 1st and resume serving the best ice cream in The Villages.

I do not get up around CR42 that often but often have got Brusters when I am up that way. Some of more discerning guests really enjoy Brusters.

No need to get off your diet Kathy - just get one of the FFNSA ( Fat Free No sugar added) flavors we have daily - less than 120 calories for most single servings and no sugar.....the taste is without an aftertaste as well - not like what I was used to prior to Bruster's

It was one of the better kept secrets in TV.
If I owned a business that depended on high volume traffic, I would hope that it wasn't a secret. Spread the word.

Drove by Brusters on 42 earlier this evening and there were lights on in the building and it looked like maybe they were training staff in preparation for a reopening (I hope, I hope!!!)
Ice cream lovers, it looks encouraging. :MOJE_whot:

We were training staff the last few days, making ice cream and getting things prepared to reopen on March 1st as planned. Its been a long and cold winter season and we're happy to announce that we are now open for business. With any luck, we hope to have a banner spring and summer selling season.
Like many other food service businesses in The Villages, we have weighed our options in the context of today's economic climate and listed our store for sale. I would think that this should come as no surprise....and besides, Patty and I would like to retire too someday. Until then, we'll continue to sell the best ice cream in town.....and we'd appreciate it if y'all spread the word. .
Thanks for posting your concerns and kind words and stop by and taste the flavors.
And, psssst.....if anyone knows of anyone interested in buying a business opportunity....well, know you have something to tell 'em.

Went there Thursday night about 8 PM with wife, brother and sis-in-law. One of the first warm nights we have had this year. Ice Cream was very good.
(Thursday special - bring your own banana and get a banana split at half price!)
Half a dozen others there at same time.
