don't fall for this scam... 800 # called us.. recording said our Visa card had a suspicious charge of $700 for tech service.. and to call a 866#.. I hung up and called the 866 number on the actual card.. I was told that nothing had been charged and no contact from the company.. so if I had called the # given on the phone call they would have tried to get my actual card number and THEN use it for fraud.. I just hate scammers.

Thanks for the reminder. This type of thing seems to be happening more and more.

Good for you, you did the correct thing, same goes for email, do not click on link, go directly to the website, or use a known good phone number.

I don’t pick up the phone if I don’t know who it is. And if I do pick it up and it’s a robot I just hang up

I tell them I’m “Amish” and don’t have any credit cards, computers or cars that need an extended warranty.

I got the same call yesterday. Ignored it. Always call the number on your card.

Call the number on your card and check that everything is cool...THEN
Get a beer and some popcorn and get comfortable
Call them back
Talk in an old person baby voice, really really slow
When they want your card number give them a fake one
When they tell you that is not it, read it to them again slow
Say Huh and Hmmm a lot
Give them the same number again even slower and then say maybe I should get my reading glasses
Ask if they have a number you can reach them directly and their name, be slow writing it down.
Put the phone down.
Do something cool and come back.
Read them the same number over again, then say, I didn't charge $700, I only charged $174.
Tell them maybe your son did it and tell them you will talk to him, put the phone down.
You can make noises if you want, cats and horns are good.
Come back and tell them you will ask your daughter. Do whatever.
Come back.
When they get frustrated, tell them you have to poop and hang up.
You can keep this going for a very long time, just don't laugh. The more beer, the harder the game.
Once you have the number you can call over and over again. It ties them up and stops them from
harassing other people who aren't as savvy. They have your number anyway.
LOL I can't wait to be retired.
