Anyone know what was going on yesterday around 1:00 pm when seven Sumter Sheriff vehicles came down Buena Vista with lights blazing ? One blocked eastbound traffic on 466 while the others headed east on 466 at a high rate of speed. Nothing I saw in the Daily Sunshine nor the Villages News.

You will never read anything in the Daily Sun that has to do with negativity in the villages, whether it’s a robbery, homicide rape, assault murder.
they only print happy things.

That is partially untrue.. What they do NOT do is name names or print arrest pictures. (Mugshots). They never print a story about a local suicide, (That is old journalism ethics) They are not into click bait.
The paper is owned now by Phillip Markham who was a friend of the late Gary Morse and echoes his conservative opinions. The building the Sun rents is still owned by the Morse family.
It still gets a Lion's Share of advertising from the Developer and I am sure that colors things and encourages the Villages friendly attitude I think you are talking about.
That is just fine with the majority of readers. There is the Orlando Sentinel available for those who want another view.

There was some kind of traffic problem on 301 yesterday according to the Wildwood PD response log. They post it on Facebook every so often. Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/WildwoodPoliceFL/photos/a.141240292579219/2204788862891008/?type=3&theater) If it were a traffic offense involving re-routing traffic, then multiple departments might have responded.
The other Villages' area PDs might have logs on Facebook too. Not sure.
I do not see anything about it on the Sumter County Sheriff's Facebook page.

I heard that a golf cart driver doing 19.8 mph was passed by an illegal cart doing an estimated 21 mph, the passed driver became enraged, pulled a pistol...and shot the rear tire of the passing cart.
The cart with the shot out tire then rolled over, but the driver was wearing a seat belt...and was unharmed.
Unfortunately, the dog that was unsecured in the cart that rolled over...was thrown from the cart.
Although the dog was unharmed...it scared the poop out of it.
When the police arrived, the driver of the rolled over cart was immediately handcuffed...and taken into custody.
He was charged with...'failing to pick up his dog's poop.'
That's what I heard anyway.

I am not sure yoi are correct about the readership being OK with just reading the happy news.
it would be helpful to Residents who do read The daily Sun to be informed with all the news. The most recent POA publication provided the research regarding the downgrading of The Villages Hospital falling to a two is pretty serious. Why wasn't this information and supporting data not published in The Daily Sun. We deserve better reporting and better healthcare management.

The Villages, The CDD and the Morse family has NOTHING to do with The Villages Hospital except the Morse family owns the building. They lease it to a hospital corporation.
The Villages Health care system, which is a bunch of buildings housing doctors and their staffs is owned by The Morses.
I don't know about the TVRH downgrade to a two published by the POA. I will go online and read it right now. I never ever heard it was a one. Top level is kept for teaching hospitals associated with medical schools, but this could be something else.
Here is the article you speak of and it makes me wonder if there was a commitment to speak or only an invitation. http://poa4us.org/bulletins_files/201809bulletin.pdf
It appears to me from a quick reading of the CMS Hospital Star System that a 2.5 is average. Which I would consider a fair evaluation of TVRH.
"World Class" is Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Mass General in Boston, Cedars Sinai in LA and Anderson in Houston. The writer of the POA article thought we should have world class here in The Villages. That expectation is unrealistic.

I think that Rick Scott was at Eisenhower Rec Center, campaigning. We were out of town for the day and saw stuff going on there and remembered as we drove by on the way home.
