Courtyard villa - want 2 shower stalls

We hope to buy a courtyard villa in March, but we want two walk in shower stalls instead of one and a bath. Has anyone replaced the tub with a shower, and if so, what was the cost? Thanks y'all, soon to be neighbors :smiley: Sandra

My Bonita model has a master bath with frosted glass shower door. It is
the darkest bathroom I've ever seen and is creepy even when the lights are on! I would like to replace the existing frosted glass doors (an acryllic bath) and, and, have someone cut 'windows' from the bedroom above the bath
from the bedroom to get some natural light. I don't even know where to begin. Currently using the guest bath with a shower curtain...pretty dumb

Have your considered putting in a solar tube? They really bring light into those dark recesses. You always needed to put the lights on in our guest bathroom before the tube installation. Once they're in you'll wonder how you ever got along without them.

The best possible solution for your master bath is to get a solar tube installed as we did--Solatube brand. You will not believe how much light this captures, magnifies, and provides in a windowless room. These solar tubes bring in filtered, natural light that lights up a room far more than ordinary skylights.

Our bath like yours is now as sunny as the LR-DR side with all the windows. After two years, we still flip the light switch off, thinking the lights are on when they're not.

We gutted the master bath in our CYV replacing everything with tile, granite, glass shower surround -- everything top of the line -- but with minimal moving of lines (just moved toilet 3 inches to right.) I had one estimate for $21K!!! but went with Duncan Stone who had done our kitchen. Ty Duncan did the job for $5K and I bought fixtures for about another $1K. It is absolutely wonderful!!! Duncan Stone and owner Ty are great to work with.

If you just want to replace a tub without gutting everything, I would think you could do it for much less.

Both our baths have solartubes. Our guests are always wondering how to turn off the lights. They were already installed when we bought our place so I have no idea who did the job or how much it cost. Whatever it was, though, it was worth every penny.
