Check out how their 33 year old 6' 5" 295 pound son reacted when they tried to take away the non-prescribed Xanax he was scarfing down on their lanai on the unmentionable online news.

This has very little connection to most Villagers. There are criminals-- like cyber bullies-- in every community who wreck havoc on their local communities. These usual have a lot broader influence on the community than some opiate addict who will not give up his or her pills.

How about the 32 year old heroin addict woman living in TV who has admitted to stealing from Walmart almost daily?

I am an adult child living here. So are you, whether you live here or not. I just happen to be over 70, but I had parents so that makes me their adult child. So are the over-55 aged thieves, DUI offenders, spousal abusers, etc. Age is NOT the problem; the individual is.

I saw this also. Sure wouldn't want to tell the people who are the next-door neighbors that this is a meaningless isolated problem with 'little' connection to other villagers. (it's not, at least once a month, probably more we don't know about). I wonder what this 33 year does during the normal day? Drive the golf cart on Xanax? Probably. Maybe the car? Mommy's car? Probably. He was out on the home’s lanai, which was in complete disarray when police came. Since they don't live in a CYV, then everyone could see this. Great.

Nicely said. There are people who do a great deal of damage to the public image of the Villages online via their excessive cyber bullying. This is done whenever and where ever these anonymous trolls can get away with it. And these people usually have very broad audiences.
Look to the individual doing the wrongs and do not pay that much attention to his or her age or whether or not he or she owns a house or not.
Cyber bullying has lead to suicide of teens and pre-teens. Real Life Stories | PureSight | Real Life Stories (http://www.puresight.com/Real-Life-Stories/real-life-stories.html) And does apply I believe in retirement communities where some adults act a lot more like they were back in high school or even junior high school. huh? How do you cyber-bully a criminal? Maybe the Sheriff's department is bullying because they arrested him.
Yes, DO PAY attention to people who point out the warts in The Villages. It's not all lollipops and ice-cream. The bleeding-hearts are just that. It's not their problem so maybe we should dismiss it. Nice (<---- sarcasm)

They are allowed to live here. That isn't going to change. You can rant and rave and make social commentaries . You can be frustrated and very upset. They are legally allowed to live here. You are getting yourself all het up over something that isn't going to change. Who are you mad at? The adult kids? The Villages? The company making Xanax? The genetics that make some people more addiction prone? Poor, over protective parenting in general? Owning in a place that has a small percentage of crime compared to most places in the U.S.???? It is what it is. Manabouttown may have chosen not to live here. I am glad I live here. It takes all kinds to make a world.

Since Manaboutown doesn't live here, maybe he cannot really think in terms of how big TV really is. Between SR42 and SR44 there are about 60,000 homes. I played neighborhood softball for 15 seasons (5 years) in a row and yet away from the diamonds I have never crossed paths with anyone that I know from softball. I have been a regular user of MVP at Brownwood for 4-1/2 years and yet I've only ran into someone I know from the gym one time, this past February at a Johnny Wild show at Brownwood square.
My point is, mingling or even having casual contact with any of these criminals is probably something you'll probably never have to worry about. Essentially we're a small city and I have to admit the Sumter County Sheriffs does a great job in keeping us safe.

What is your problem and that is addressed to those who have their panties in a wad because of two things...
.....A small percentage of children of Villagers have problems
.....A website decides to print everything that appears "gossip fodder" from the police blotter.
I would ask your objective in this daily and continuing barrage of insinuations, and downright mean spirited accusations ?
Now I read that the main offender does not even live in The Village and is simply a mean person with no life who is trying to hurt others with his words that are not backed up by any facts, nor motivation.
I suggest to all of you, to get the h3%% off the computer and get outside. Enjoy life.
I, for one, am sick and tired of unsubstantiated accusations that are simply mean. When the Developer or their sales agents market The Villages as totally free of "sin" then get upset.
YOU all need a hobby and a change of reading sites. Or go down to the market, pick up a National Enquirer, sit back with "whatever" and read all the insinuations and half baked gossip and lies......that seems to be your goal in life.

Seems some are taking a conversation personal. Un-bunch the panties.
So, with G's logic, since it is a small thing here and other places are worse then it should be our own little secret.
That is the same as how communities hide terrorists. Oh, since it isn't happening to ME personally and it is only a few people in the whole community then we should just ignore it.
Come on. The % of adult children living here to crime compared to the % of home owners to crime is a big #.
Is there a tax write-off that makes people overlook the negative. You know if your adult child is a screw up. You can't be blind or surprised, you made them.
6 foot 5, 300 pounds and on Xanax and living at home? Come on.
Maybe they shouldn't be allowed to live here in the lease. Maybe only 2 people should be full-time residents.

They ARE allowed to live here. We moved to a CDD not a voting metropolis. Adults living with parents aren't concealed, the other news and the local news sheds light on them when they break the law. I don't know why he is living at home. I don't think anyone is applauding this particular very upsetting situation. I wonder if people wonder why our 53 year old daughter has always lived with us?
In a CDD the deed restrictions and the rules governing them are in place and you can vote to live there or not. I think it is kind of amazing how well this CDD works.

LOL< some people are thick or just don't understand. I feel its just a post# booster because the same thing is posted over and over and only by people with 3000+ posts. Hmm... We KNOW they are allowed to live here. The problem is that they are not ALLOWED to commit a crime here.

Overlooking the negative as you refer to is more minding our business and enjoying the positive, and that if coureis dependent on being able to enjoy life.
In addition, I enjoy factual and truthful discussion, thus could you please supply the numbers and stats that led you to this...

Okay back to the original topic.
How do you control someone who is 6’5”, 295 lbs. on drugs?
Marathon Man

Here we go again. If this guy was 65YO and owned the house he was in, would anyone even be talking about it. I am convince that it is not the drugs, not the crime, but simply the resentment that anyone over the age of 18 can live here. I don't understand it myself, but whatever.
Oh, My ignore list just got one name longer.

I have a question, if a known problematic substance abuser lived next to you,
would it make you a bit more cautious?
Note: Age not considered.

IMO Of Course. Just like I wouldn't leave jewelry or medications, cash, credit card offers lying around when others are in my house.
Again my opinion

I never met this person, that is not what I meant.
This is a troll, and each has his/her way......this is somebody attacking where I live and take pride in. HE/SHE is doing it and REFUSES (see cannot) any validation other than a mean spirit.
He/She takes great glee in agitating but unable to do anything but just simply say things. You cannot accuse people, places etc., without offering some substance. HE/She does not offer as opinion but as if there were facts....which we see he/she refuses to share (because there are none).
I do not like liars and this is a liar. I do not like those who accuse others of anything without offering some substance. He/she does not even try to say it is an opinion and here is why.....
Speaks of a mean spirited person who has vacuums to fill.
This is how some folks live, and glad I am on ignore.....not my first time :)
The Villages is a great place. Safest place I have ever lived and I have lived in probably 20 places. Well maybe not as safe as the Provo, Utah campus of Brigham Young University. And BYU was full of kids around 18-30 or so years of age along with their professors and/or other kinds of teachers.
They both have the same kind of benign leadership by a small group though. The LDS Church leaders for BYU and the developers and their contacts for the Villages.

OF COURSE......BUT LET ME ADD...
In ANY town or city in the country.
In ANY retirement Village.
The tirades are aimed at THIS community......as if THIS community was in some way at fault. If that is the case, that is sad and a decision needs to be made but coming on here hacking away at everybody and the Developer is a waste. This place has been here for a lot of years.....all that has changed from my point of view is that we have a web site that delights their fans with gossip fodder. It, whatever you do not like did not start just today
I might add, that if I felt the the community I lived in was responsible, I would simply leave. There are senior apartments that have had crime problems.......it is just a stupid exercise in being mean spirited for no good reason.
Simply because you have a forum to mouth your allegations does not make it right to do.
I have been here for 18 years....I know the good and bad.....I do not live in heaven (yet :)) I was nor promised that, and I have been around enough to know what real life looks like, AS WELL as around enough to recognize a troll when I see them.
I asked for the motivation to even bring this up....no response
I asked for validation about the so called "statistics" and got nothing.
If you want to accuse somebody of something......do it with some credibility, and reason.
If your goal is to make me look unsympathetic...sorry....I have feeling but I assure you, with something that serious, bitching on TOTV is not going to get you relief. And then to insure you add little icons to be cute.....sorry...no sympathy from here
