Publix will be located directly east of Lowe's, behind Circle K and Taco Bell.

aldi s cant be to happy. 2 totally different business. I don't think it will have any neg effect on Aldi especially since they don't for the most part sell the same BRANDS and their similar type of items are much cheaper. Most Aldi shoppers have easy access to a local Publix or Winn D nearby but go to Aldi because they want to. It's a "destination" business.
I only wish they made that mall golf cart accessible. I know it isn't a TV property which is why but there must be some way they can "sneak in" a connection to the trail at the end of their property at Buena Vista.
With all the new places coming in that would help that mall's business quite a bit.

Publix or Winn Dixie will never beat Aldi's prices.

Good news but non golf cart access sucks. I'll still go to colony for the ease of parking with a golf cart. Many more places to park and share a space.

Aldi’s is like shopping in a third world market. I’ve never seen the attraction.

It has been pointed out several times that there would be no golf cart access, and if it was "sneaked in" it would be very detrimental to the villagers in that area. When the developer presented plans to Wildwood for what they wanted to do, I think there were provisions for GC access from the North side of 466a, I never saw any access from the South side of 466a. Also, it appears Wildwood has no plans for GC access either as recent road rebuilds (466a and 462) do not have GC lanes.

I am well aware there would be no GC access and stated that. But Where there is a will there is a way. ;)

Aldi's produce has a 24 hour time frame to use or it hits the disposal-- we had one in Cary NC, tried it once--most produce was hanging on for dear life--thats why it was so cheap
You might get fresher stuff in the dumpster behind Publix

Perhaps your Aldi's store was managed differently than others. I shop regularly at Aldi's and have no problem with any of their products. I believe they have upgraded their products in the last couple years. I get sticker shock at Publix or Winn Dixie, but they do have good specials. I think we're lucky to have the choices.

Aldi's doesn't care about Publix.

The new Aldi is 10X better than the other ones. Haven't shopped them lately though so maybe they too have upped their game. I had a thought re: golf-cart accessible...Pinellas has a traffic light and there's an entry going towards the Trade-winds property. Perhaps soon enough one can cross 466a, as folks do on 441/27 to go to Lowes and such. Don't be "Debbie Downers" as this area is just developing!!

Ease of parking at Colony????? When?

It appears the new store will be almost 40,000 sq ft. I wonder how that compares to the one in Colony?

Colony is aroind 55,000 and Lake Deaton is 60,000.
I am very excited about this new Publix.
Colony Publix is a great store but I cannot take the crowds and the congested parking.
I lived in Tampa for many years which had a much larger population and none of our stores
were half as busy as Colony.

Don't forget the Publix at Grand Traverse Plaza only a couple of miles away.

The Villages has that 'entry' blocked by a gate and a locked chain.

Yes, perhaps that will be OK after the state changes the law to allow golf carts to cross roads with a speed limit over 35 mph. Until then, crossing 466a in a cart will be as dangerous as it was to the guy who was killed last year crossing 441/27 in a cart. Has anyone tried crossing 441/27 in a cart since?

Yes, very frequently. They cross at the traffic lights. There is an attitude it's legal til you get caught.

People have been crossing legally for 4 years at 441/175th PlMarion County passed an ordinance which allows a golf cart to cross 441 at SE175th Place. To my knowledge, this is the only crossing (in the area near TV) where this is legal.
As pointed out, some golf cart drivers cross 441 at other intersections. In my opinion they either don't care or don't know it's illegal.
The same occurs along 466 and 466A. Recent posts on TOTV have described golf carts crossing 466A to/from Colony Plaza.
My prediction is that golf carts will eventually illegally cross 466A at the Pinellas Place traffic signals.
When the vacant property on the north side of that intersection is developed, there will be a street going north from the signals. It will connected to existing streets in Trailwinds Village. Voila! Idiots driving golf carts will get to Trailwinds Village that way.

Well, I wish them luck. I hope their carts have strong side protection and air bags.
We were leaving Lowes a few weeks ago and were waiting at the light on 466a. When the light turned green, my wife pressed the clutch and started to put our car into gear (she drives a 5-sp manual), and a truck on 466a drove right thru the red light on 466a.
That sure taught us a lesson. Now when we at a light on 466a or 44, we make sure the coast is very clear before we pull out.

Sigh...another dull Publix location.
Where is my Wegmans or Shop Rite. They would put a big dent in Publix if they ever decided to compete in Florida.
