I am new to this forum and would like to know more about the villages. I am considering retiring in a community such as TV. I have seen the commercials and received a DVD on TV. Is everyone really as happy as the DVD portrays? I have a child with special needs. Would I be able to find a program in TV for my child?

You have a valid question, I know that children living with family here must be a certain age, as to specialized programs here in TV I am not sure. We do have a Charter school running full time here which is excellent for grade school and high school students whose parents work for any establishment here in TV and are therefore accepted into these two programs automatically. You might want to call TV at this number 352-753-2270 for further information.

Section C of today's newspaper has a wonderful article regarding the special olympics.
(There is a photo in the actual paper, but no photos in the online article.)

The Daily Sun also had a recent article on theraputic riding.

My take - The Villages is a great place to live. Rent somewhere a month and visit, each village/area has it's own personality. Overall, there are tons of retirement communities with a golf course, clubhouse and pool. If that's all you need, go for it. The Villages has shopping, restaurants, clubs, activities, entertainment, medical, etc etc all within a golf cart ride. We love it here.
