I enjoyed that and passed it on. Thanks for sharing and the laughs.

Hi Judy,

I have never owned a cat -- or should I say that I have never been owned by a cat. Always been owned by a dog.

But I know a guy who once drove about a hundred miles with a cat on his head. (That was in the days when people did not use cages for their pets when traveling.)

He and his wife were moving and so was the cat -- all on the cat's terms, of course.

When he told me about this, all I could think of was a scene where he would be pulled over for a traffic violation.

Kind of a Davy Crockett look. -- But live!

Boomer, hahahaha! Davy Crockett, but live! Actually, it's not all that unusual. I think everybody who ever owned a cat has a cat on the head (or neck) in the car story. I had completely forgotten mine, until you reminded me -- and I tried hard to forget it. Thanks a lot, Boomer. :icon_wink:

I had to get 5 cats to the vet once (don't ask), but I only had one cardboard kitty carrier. Since cats love paper bags, I threw a buzzy ball into each of 4 paper bags and when a cat ran inside the bag I quickly folded over the top and stapled it shut. It seemed like a brilliant idea at the time. I placed their bags carefully on the floor of the back seat and drove off, basking in the glow of my ingenuity.

Halfway to the vet's office the kitties started breaking loose. A paper grocery bag is no match for kitty claws. Soon I had a cat on the head, on the back of the seat, another clawing at the window, and one trying to hide under the brake pedal... People in the car next to me at the stoplight were pointing and staring. I had cat hair up my nose. Blood was drawn. It wasn't a pretty sight. And the entire time I worried that I would be pulled over for inattentive driving. :police: How on earth could I explain it? How could I give the officer my license and registration without opening the window and letting the kitties escape? I couldn't risk opening the door when I got to the vet's. I had to sit in the parking lot until somebody came out, so I could ask them to go back inside and tell the vet folks I needed more cardboard cat carriers.

Lessons learned:
Five cats is 3 too many for a trip to the vet's.
Cardboard is stronger than paper, but Samsonite would have been even better.
Oven mitts would have been useful. They're not just for baking.

Judy,

That scene is hilarious. I know nothing about cats. But I have heard the expression about something being "like trying to herd cats."

And I always wondered why people say "letting the cat out of the bag."

And now I know. Those sayings are because of you.
