Beach Recommendations, Tampa, St Pete

We would like to go a beach on the Gulf in the Tampa, St. Pete, Clearwater area for 2, 3, or 4 days starting May 5th. Not having luck with hotel search sites for beach front properties. Any suggestions?

Check out Superior Small Lodging http://www.superiorsmalllodging.com/. Mostly small privately owned less than 50 rooms. A lot of beach front and across the street motels. You should be able to find rooms in May.
A larger place on St Pete Beach that is really nice is The Don Cesar. http://www.loewshotels.com/en/Hotels/St-Pete-Beach-Resort/Overview.aspx
