I like my Dyson stick. It hangs on the wall and charges itself. I could do my whole designer on one charge. And no cord to plug and unplug to move. And it really sucks! I also have a Dyson big model with a cord. They both do a great job, but the stick does hard surface and soft. The big one doesn't get into the corners as well because, um, it's bigger. If I had to give one up, it would be the big one. But then, I have a Golden Retriever Hair Manufacturer who causes me to have to vacuum every day. So having the ease of the stick is great.

They're not cheap, but we've had cheaper, and they don't work as well or last as long. My stick will be 8 soon. The bigger one is 10.

Yes, but you'll only pay it once. After the second Shark (or is is Sharp) died I bit the bullet.

I have a Miele and an ECOVACS Deebot N79S robot vac. It is not as fancy as the IRobot one, but costs a lot less. It takes off and wanders around the house for about 2 hours. You empty the canister after each use. Works great on keeping pet hair at bay.

Most definitely, we also have a Dyson Hot. It must be about 8 years old and it has also served us well. It takes the chill off a room quickly. It is just quality stuff that you only have to buy once.

Mrs. CFrance, build me a small Retriever out of all that hair. A Dog Clone?

I have this one Amazon.com - Oreck Upright Vacuum Cleaner LW100 Magnesium SP with 3 HEPA Bags | Carpets, Tile and Hardwood Flooring | Dirt, Debris, Pet Hair | Lightweight, High-Suction Clean - (https://www.amazon.com/Oreck-Magnesium-Hardwood-Lightweight-High-Suction/dp/B06XFWHVXZ?crid=383U226OYJ01D&keywords=oreck+magnesium+vacuum&qid=1540830017&sprefix=oreck+mag%2Caps%2C176&sr=8-4&ref=sr_1_4)

Very light and so easy to push on carpet. Notice how large the wheels are. Making it easy to push. Also, its made out of magnesium making it strong and lighter than other metals.
My daughter had a Dyson and it is VERY heavy.

Ecovacs Deebot M80 has a lot of features that make it outstanding. The Ecovacs Deebot M80 will follow the wall to clean along the edges.Ecovacs Deebot robot (https://vactrends.com/deebot-m80-review/) M80 comes with a remote controller that allows you to operate conveniently. And the best part is that it is affordable i am using it that’s why recommended it to you.

Shark, Shark, Shark. By far the best for the price. Get the lift away.
There is a youtube channel called "Vacuum Wars" if you want to see vacuums tested head to head, watch a few of these and you will go buy a shark.......

First decision is what do you want to vacuum-bare floors-carpet-combination?
We have a likely discontinued Bissell Heavy Duty Commercial machine.
It is an upright type-best for carpets. It also has a hose and a smaller powered head. The wheels etc are all better quality than on most machines.
So much for the good stuff. It is not only heavy duty, powerful, has a really long cord but it is quite heavy.
Storage is limited. Could easily justify our HD machine and a lighter weight one.

I agree with the Dyson stick. Not cheap but very dependable. Great power, very light and charges hanging on the wall out of the way. Our home is 2500 sqft and the Dyson can vacuum every room before a recharge is required.

It depends on your floors. I have a Dyson Pet in NC and if you can believe, the suction is too strong. We installed upgraded carpet pad (the red rubber kind) and I can't get the vac to move across the rug. I have to drag it backwards. I believe the suction pulls the pad up to the carpet and creates such a vacuum that only my husband can propel across, albeit with difficulty. (Disclosure, we are both strong and able bodied.) It also puts out a lot of heat which another poster noted. Here in TV we bought a Shark Duo. It has a soft roller in front and brush roller behind it that can be turned off while on hard flooring types. I love it. Great suction. Multiple attachments and detachable body so you can get those places an upright usually can't go. A quick thumb control switches the roller on and off with height adjustment when moving from tile/wood/laminate to carpet. It does a great job on both surfaces and I am very satisfied. My only complaint is I wish the head was wider to cover more surface area in a single swipe. Good luck with your search.
