He was killed at Hazelton, in West Virginia.

But Bugler was killed in a prison in West Virginia, not Coleman.

He had just been transferred to there from Coleman. Hence, he should not have left Coleman.

This was from my Facebook page where I follow probably a few hundred news sources. James 'Whitey' Bulger killed in West Virginia prison, sources say (https://www.wcvb.com/article/james-whitey-bulger-killed-in-west-virginia-prison-sources-say/24438288) Some of these would be news sources in West Virginia.

Each of us creates his own Facebook page.

Kinda makes one wonder...was someone laying for him at Hazelton? Did they have the Feds blessings and cooperation? We will probably never know.

He lived a long time for a gangster, to age 89. He had been sent from Coleman to a transfer facility in Oklahoma, then on to West Virginia. I imagine he had a lot of enemies just waiting to get to him.

Someone was not planning things out very well. They should have seen that this could happen.

Hopefully he suffered a lot there has been a very hefty price on that RATS head for a long time. Just hearing that he died made my day.

Whitey Bulger, a former prisoner at Coleman Federal Correctional Institution was found dead in a prison in West Virginia. Bulger had just been moved to USP Hazelton, a high-security prison with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia within the past couple of days. Investigation into his death continues

I won't bore you with the details of my WB story but I met him once in Boston in the late 70s. They took me out to meet him, I had no idea who he was at the time, but he wanted to thank me for something that most people wouldn't have given a second thought to. They told me ".. stand up, don't sit unless he tells you to, if he offers you a drink, you say thank you sir and you drink. Say yes sir, no sir, thank you, sir, other than that, keep your mouth shut..". But they didn't say it that nicely.

I'll wait until the official investigation is completed and the results posted. I don't jump to conclusions like so many people here do. At that age, the stress of moving could have killed him.:ohdear:

In the words of Roseanne Rosanadanna, “never mind...”

The first story I read this morning said the reason he was moved from Coleman was his deteriorating health and the lack of medical facilities here. Don't know if that was true. Are medical facilities better in W. Virginia?

Some fed pens have large hospital units, some do not.

Seems that somebody at the prison in WV did not do their job. As bad as he supposedly was, prisons should not be so bad that he was killed on his first day there. Have not heard whether they know the killer.

Sez he was beaten to death. I don't know no "family" other than those who will hopefully be sittin' round my Thanksgiving table. That is fine. Everyone does things differently. I am happy with my family.

It wouldn't surprise me if some mafia types got to some federal administration officials in order to have him transferred to where they had his killer waiting. But in any event, it's too bad that it took so long. He was convicted of 11 murders among many other things. How he escaped the death penalty is beyond me.

Three of his fellow prisoners jumped him and beat him to death it looks like. Probably at the command of some Boston chief hood.

I find many of the responses to Mr. Bulgers death interesting as they would have mirrored my thoughts prior to reading an article written about his letter to three high school students. Research online “my life was wasted” Whitey Bulger. He was not without remorse for his deeds.

You have to wonder about the intelligence of the people that took the life of an 89 year old, frail and sickly man hoping to die. They actually did him a favor.
