We have a friend that answers these calls, says just a minute, then walks away to do something else. He enjoys wasting their time.
Personally, I think this tells them that his is an active number, and he’s going to sell that info to other scammers.
If a call comes in and it’s not a number we recognize, we just don’t pick up.

Maybe, but if you don't answer, I think your number will be recycled to call back at another time and keep calling you at different times. At least your friend is getting some satisfaction. If you don't want to answer calls from unknown numbers, why not set your "do not disturb" setting to only ring when the call is from one of your stored contacts?

I get them every once in awhile they claim to be official Microsoft engineer and they can fix my problem that I am causing to the internet. I let them go through their spell and so on them telling me they are official Microsoft and etc. then I tell them that is very interesting as I have a Apple computer. They hang up on me :)

Don’t know how to do that on our house phone. May not be an option.

There are many devices out there such as this that have preprogrammed spam numbers and also allow you to add more as needed. https://www.amazon.com/CPR-V5000-Call-Blocker-Robocalls/dp/B0191XMBV2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1541170976&sr=8-3&keywords=call+blocker

I answer Sumter County Sheriffs Department Fraud Division Officer Friday, how can I help you? That usually takes care of it.

It's pretty much what you should expect if you're an Isheep.
I don't get them. But I'm not an Isheep.
And it's not new.
